- Ford E-Transit Custom set for all-wheel drive powertrain in 2026
- Powerful dual-motor set-up
- Perfect for tradespeople who need more grip
- Also great for campervan converters

The E-Transit Custom will be available next year with all-wheel-drive, Ford has confirmed.
The addition of this 4x4 update will appeal to operators working in challenging terrain and conditions, as well as leisure vehicle converters and campervan builders seeking greater off-grid versatility.
With the promise of greater traction and stability, the new AWD system will offer advantages for those requiring dependable performance in regions prone to snow, ice, or mud, such as the Scottish Highlands.

The E-Transit Custom’s AWD system features a dual-motor setup, rather than relying on a single motor to power the rear wheels. With a second high-powered electric motor attached to the front axle, torque can be delivered independently to each axle.
This, according to Ford, will maximise grip in poor weather conditions and on steep slopes, and will also improve overall vehicle dynamics.
The all-wheel drive variant will be available across the full range of E-Transit Custom body styles, including the rugged-looking Trail trim. Ford is yet to release technical specifications and range figures for the AWD models, with details due to be revealed closer to the launch date.
It is expected to debut in Spring 2026 alongside an all-wheel drive version of the E-Tourneo Custom, Ford’s electric people mover based on the same platform.
