- New Vauxhall Frontera Gravel revealed
- Ultra-rugged show car
- Built with help from motorsport tuning partners BlackFish and XS
- Same electric powertrain as regular Frontera SUV

Vauxhall has revealed a new ‘ultra-rugged’ Gravel variant of its attractive Frontera - for when a school-run SUV just won’t cut the mustard.
The Vauxhall Frontera is already an attractive lease car, coming with a choice of hybrid or fully-electric powertrains as well as the option of seven seats.

This new Gravel model ‘demonstrates what a more adventure-ready variant of the family-friendly SUV could look like’, according to Vauxhall.
It’s a show car for now, built in collaboration with Vauxhall’s motorsport tuning partners BlackFish and XS, but Vauxhall admits the concept will ‘test the demand for a bolder, more rugged Frontera in the future’.

The Gravel is based on the electric Vauxhall Frontera rather than the hybrid, with the regular model being front-wheel drive and having a range of up to 249 miles between charges.
Vauxhall says the Frontera Gravel is suited to ‘soft roading adventures’ rather than anything more hardcore, which suggests it too is front-wheel drive rather than all-wheel drive.

There’s a matte black roof, unique 16-inch wheels, a ‘Desert stone’ wrap, orange accents on the front and rear numbers, side storage boxes, a lattice-style roof rack, extra spotlights, and a front-mounted winch and hook.
The cabin is pretty much the same as the regular Frontera, barring some bright orange highlights on the seats and a black headliner.

Rebecca Reinermann, Vice President Marketing of Opel and Vauxhall, said: “The new Vauxhall Frontera is already a standout vehicle. It is rugged, practical, and perfect for families and everyday adventures. But with the Frontera Gravel show car, we’ve pushed the limits, imagining a tougher, more daring, trailblazing version. This concept is built to fire up our fanbase and test the demand for a bolder, more rugged Frontera in the future. It’s all about freedom, adventure, excitement and pushing boundaries.”
The Frontera Gravel follows hot on the heels of the gnarly, 280 hp Vauxhall Mokka Rally GSE, which was unveiled last week.
