- All-wheel drive plug-in hybrid with 83-mile EV range

This is the flagship Jaecoo 8 - and it could be the UK’s hottest new 7-seater.
You might be looking at this sleek SUV and thinking, ‘Yeah, it looks nice, but I’ve never even heard of the brand!’
Well, let us tell you that the smaller, Chinese-manufactured Jaecoo 7 was Select Car Leasing’s most popular lease vehicle in 2025 - and it’s still going great guns in 2026.

Add a bigger body, all-wheel drive, the option of 6 or 7 seats, a powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain, and executive levels of equipment, and the Jaecoo 8 could be an absolute winner - whether you’re in the market for a large family car that’ll handle some light off-roading, or whether you need a vehicle to drop clients off at the airport.
Prices start from £45,500.

What is the Jaecoo 8?
To give it its full title, the Jaecoo 8 SHS-P is an eye-catching new plug-in hybrid SUV that comes with either 6 or 7 seats.
It costs from £45,500 and competes with a host of other similarly-priced (or more expensive) 7-seaters, including the VW Tayron, Hyundai Santa Fe, Skoda Kodiaq, Chery Tiggo 9, and the freshly-updated Nissan X-Trail.

The Jaecoo styling has long been compared to that of Range Rover, particularly the Evoque and Velar, and those familiar lines are evident again here.
The 8 also retains Jaecoo’s signature ‘waterfall grille’ and features hidden door handles and a panoramic roof.

What versions of the Jaecoo 8 are available to lease?
There are two distinct variants of the Jaecoo 8
The regular Jaecoo 8 ‘Luxury’ is the 7-seater.

Jaecoo says: “With generous room for passengers, prams, and luggage, it transforms school runs, family trips, and holidays into more comfortable and practical experiences. Multiple ISOFIX mounting points and a strong emphasis on safety and reassurance further reinforce its family-focused credentials.”
You also get dual 12.3-inch displays, a Sony 14-speaker sound system with headrest speakers, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a head-up display, pano sunroof, heated and ventilated seats in the front and second row, and safety tech like adaptive cruise control.

The Jaecoo 8 ‘Executive’ is the 6-seater (above). You can expect a Nappa leather seating and four heated, ventilated massage captain’s chairs with extendable driver’s thigh support.
The Executive model also dials-up the equipment list with a zero-gravity front passenger seat with a 123-degree adjustable angle, extended legroom and a dedicated ‘Boss Button’ for passenger side control, elevating comfort on every journey.
What’s more, the Executive model can also be equipped with two additional fold-down seats in the boot for ‘occasional use’.

Is the Jaecoo 8 a plug-in hybrid?
Yes, the Jaecoo 8 is a powerful plug-in hybrid with very decent amounts of oomph.
The ‘SHS-P’ hybrid system combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 34.46 kWh battery (it’s the same platform as the Chery Tigoo 9, with Jaecoo falling under the umbrella of Chery).
The Jaecoo 8 is both powerful and rapid for a large SUV, with 428 PS and 580 Nm giving a 0-62 mph acceleration time of just 5.8 seconds.

The Jaecoo 8 is all-wheel drive as standard and also gets lockable differentials (which work to prevent traction loss) and an adaptive all-terrain response system for when you want to venture off road.
The PHEV engine gives you a generous 83-mile EV driving range while 40 kW DC fast charging ensures a 30-80% charge in 20 minutes. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality extends the model’s outdoor and lifestyle credentials.

Order books are open now, with deliveries expected from May 2026.
