Select Car Leasing has joined forces with Urban Automotive, the creators of the world’s most iconic modified vehicles, in a landmark collaboration.
Customers can now order the Defender 90 Hardtop with the bespoke Urban Widetrack body kit through Select.
It’s a two-seat commercial vehicle that takes company motoring to the next level and is available via Business Contract Purchase (BCP) for just £391.76 per month*.
The custom Defender features aggressive aero-honed front lower canards, an Urban upper rear spoiler, roof light bar, and unique 22-inch alloys, among many custom flourishes.
And with a dedicated load bed and bulkhead in the back, firms can reap the benefits of the Defender’s commercial vehicle tax status - while also tapping into a brand famed for its A-list associations.

While the current Urban Automotive x Select Car Leasing deal focuses on the Defender 90 Hardtop Urban Widetrack, the partnership could be expanded to include other custom vehicles in due course.
‘Modified cars don’t need to be obnoxious’
Urban Automotive’s design philosophy is for ‘OEM Plus’ modifications - enhancing the car’s original design rather than overpowering it.
Lenny adds: “Modified cars don’t need to be brash, loud and obnoxious. The Max Power days of body kits stuck on Vauxhall Novas are over.
“Our OEM Plus ethos carries through to everything we do, not just to the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) products but to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Lamborghini Urus, and all of our higher-end products.
“Some might say it’s sacrilege to put a body kit on a £350,000 Rolls-Royce, but our design just works.
“The nice thing about our products is that I like to think we could put any of our cars into a main dealer and someone would just think it’s a special edition model from that particular manufacturer, rather than a car that’s been modified.”
The Defender is a key model for Urban Automotive, which is headquartered in Milton Keynes and was founded by designer and entrepreneur Simon Dearn in 2013.
Urban was one of the first to market with modifications for the all-new Defender, launched in 2020, and the company has helped to alter perceptions of what’s possible with custom vehicles.
Lenny explains: “Customers want to stand out with a car that’s individual but they want to do it in the right way.
“The Defender is our bread and butter and the tax and VAT benefits of the Hard Top model are a big selling point. If we sell 10 Defenders, seven or eight of them will be the commercial Hard Top variants. In fact, we do 30-50 Defenders a month - the interest in them is incredible.
“There really isn’t anything quite like it on the roads today, particularly now that the government has stripped the tax benefits from double-cab pick-ups. The Land Rover Defender 90 and 110 Hard Top, and the Land Rover Discovery Commercial, are really the only premium products available as an N1 commercial vehicle.
“There are plenty of people out there who might have a sports car on the drive as well as a van, and they want to combine the two to create a luxury vehicle they can run through their business. You get the comfort of a Range Rover but the practicality of a van.”
Urban Automotive is based out of a 40,000 sq ft HQ while other adjacent hubs incorporate paint booths and carbon fibre autoclaves. Total square footage across Urban Automotive’s four sites runs to around 150,000 sq ft.
The rise of Urban’s brand has been phenomenal, aided by high-profile A-list ambassadors including Kim Kardashian, Scott Disick, and YouTube sensation Yiannimize (aka automotive content creator Yianni Charalambous).
Lenny reveals: “We enjoy an eclectic mix of clients, from your typical tradesperson to Kim Kardashian, who is currently driving a Range Rover Urban Widetrack in Los Angeles.
“We have customers from all walks of life, whether it’s someone who has worked hard and saved to get their first Defender Widetrack by Urban, or it’s a client who has ordered more than 60 vehicles with us in the past five years.”
