The Tayron sits between the smaller Tiguan and larger Touareg in VW’s range and it’s also the successor to the defunct VW Tiguan Allspace.
You might even consider it as an elongated variant of the Tiguan more suitable for load-lugging.
Yet the Tayron has its own distinct look and feel, with a sharp silhouette for the exterior complemented by premium materials in the cabin.
All models are generously equipped as standard, with tech such as adaptive cruise control and lane change assist coming right off the bat.
Practicality and comfort is the name of the game when you lease a VW Tayron.
You get the option of seven seats, which you don’t have with the smaller VW Tiguan.
There’s also a wide choice of powertrains, with petrol, diesel, mild hybrid (eTSI) and plug-in hybrid (eHybrid) engines all up for grabs.
The range-topping 2.0-litre petrol TSI variants, and the most powerful diesel engine, come with VW’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system for more surefootedness.
The Tayron - like its predecessor, the VW Tiguan Allspace - also makes for a great tow car, with a 2,400 kg max towing capacity.
All drive systems are coupled to an automatic direct shift gearbox (DSG).
The entry-level Life trim is well equipped for the class. You can expect LED headlights with automatic main beam control, three-zone air con, 10-colour ambient lighting, a rear camera, and a 12.9-inch infotainment screen. Standard safety tech includes adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and VW’s ‘Park Assist Plus’ automatic parking system.
The Match-grade is available with the plug-in hybrid 'eHybrid' powertrain only. You can also expect 18-inch alloys, a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, an electric tailgate with virtual pedal, and keyless entry.
Elegance variants of the Tayron can be leased with a petrol or plug-in hybrid powertrain. The grade also features 19-inch black alloys, area view and rear view camera, heated and massaging front seats, 'ArtVelours' seat covers, and 30-colour interior ambient lighting.
Tayron R-Line models have a sportier look, larger 19-inch alloys, and an uprated interior.
Range-topping R-Line Edition models are plug-in hybrid only. They boast 20-inch black alloys, a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, an electric tailgate with virtual pedal activation, and VW's Park Assist Pro tech with Park Distance Control.
