- Kia reveals exterior shots of incoming electric van
- PV5 Cargo will rival VW ID. Buzz Cargo
- Will sit alongside PV5 Passenger variant
- Full spec still to be revealed
Kia has released images of its PV5 Cargo model ahead of a full reveal at its second Kia EV Day, due to be held in Spain later this month.
The PV5 was first seen as a concept at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) back in 2024. Now dubbed PV5 Cargo, this mid-sized van is the first offering from the manufacturer’s new Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) light commercial vehicle range.
The PV5 has been designed for a broad customer base, promising an innovative, modular structure that provides maximum flexibility and customisation options. Coupled with its EV technology, Kia claims the PV5 is set to “redefine the concepts of space and mobility.”
Several configurations of the PV5 will be available alongside the Cargo model, with a Passenger Van (below) being revealed ahead of other variants and conversions redirected to assist at the Kia EV Day.
The PV5 has a more contemporary design style than most traditional LCVs, bringing a new look to the sector. It's no surprise, then, that it's already being compared to the retro-futuristic Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo.
Karim Habib, Head of Kia Global Design: “While the PV5 is offered in three different body styles to provide innovative solutions for a diverse range of customer needs, they all embody the same consistent design values inspired by Kia’s design philosophy, Opposites United. Each model confidently expresses a solid, bold, futuristic character and a highly capable attitude.”
The PV5 Cargo van model has a strong aesthetic from the front, with clean lines and a bold, futuristic look. Integrated into the A-pillar, the signature technical LED lighting enhances the look, drawing together the sleek upper body and robust lower section.
Black geometric wheel arch claddings and rocker panels adorn the PV5, presenting a tough, ‘go anywhere’ look, while the simple, clean profile radiates useability. The corners of the sturdy lower bumper are interchangeable for both aesthetic and protective purposes.
The Cargo has a boxier profile than the Passenger van (above), reflecting the enhanced use of space, which Kia says will “elevate the PV5 Cargo’s design over traditional light commercial vehicles”.
The rear of the van ultimately looks pretty conventional, with twin side-opening doors integrated into an otherwise sleek, uncomplicated design.
Full technical and design details of the PV5 range will be revealed at the Kia EV Day in Spain.
