Euro NCAP, the independent safety testing body, has unveiled its latest ratings for commercial vans. Ford, Volkswagen, and Farizon took top honours.
The updated Ford Transit, the new Volkswagen Transporter, and the Farizon SV — a large electric van from Geely’s Farizon Auto — all secured the Platinum award.The Farizon SV, a newcomer set to launch in the UK in early 2025, secured a Platinum rating with an overall score of 85 points. It excelled in active safety systems, earning a 95% score in Autonomous Emergency Braking tests and perfect marks in Lane Support and Occupant Status Monitoring.

Built on a fully electric, drive-by-wire platform, the Farizon SV also promises impressive cargo space, extended range, and a driver-focused experience.
Ford’s Transit Courier, Transit Connect and Transit Custom already have Platinum awards, and now the revised Ford Transit joins them. The fourth award means that every Transit model now carries a Platinum safety rating.
The revamped Transit boasts advanced safety tech, including Pre-Collision Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane-Keeping Alert, and Intelligent Speed Assist. According to Euro NCAP, these features bring its safety performance up to par with that of many modern passenger cars.

The Transit scored an impressive 95% overall, with standout results in categories like Occupant Safety Monitoring and Lane Support Systems, where it achieved maximum marks.
Stellantis’s medium van lineup, which includes the Citroën Dispatch, Fiat Scudo, Peugeot Expert, and Vauxhall Vivaro, all earned Gold ratings. While just shy of the Platinum standard, these vans demonstrated solid safety credentials and remain a strong choice for businesses prioritising safety.
Growing Emphasis on Van Safety
Euro NCAP expanded its ratings to cover commercial vans in 2021, and since then, it has assessed over 95% of the vans available in Europe. The focus on van safety highlights the essential role these vehicles play in business and logistics, where advanced safety features can make all the difference.
