- New Vauxhall Movano Hydrogen will be available in Spring 2025
- Priced from £70,400 to purchase outright
- Joins Movano Electric in Vauxhall's LCV line-up
- Hydrogen-powered Vauxhall Vivaro also being tested
Zero tailpipe emissions, a range of 311 mikes, and refuelling in five minutes? That’s what the new Vauxhall Movano Hydrogen van promises, but it will come at a price.
When order books open in spring 2025, the price of the hydrogen-powered LCV will start from £70,400, excluding VAT and taxes.
Powered by a 110kW (150hp) electric motor delivering 410Nm of torque, a Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cell with a 45kW output provides the Movano Hydrogen’s energy. Four hydrogen tanks store up to 7kg of hydrogen under 700 bar pressure to feed the cell. Refuelling takes less than five minutes, so it’s a practical option for business and fleet operators who work on tight schedules.
An 11kWh lithium-ion battery provides extra energy for acceleration or when more power is required, with energy recovered from braking stored there. It can also be recharged via an 11kW AC charger in around 90 minutes.
The Movano Hydrogen will be available only in entry-level Prime trim, but this comes well equipped with a 10.0-inch touchscreen with TomTom navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and a DAB radio. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also enabled. Essential driving data is displayed on a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and voice control should make operation easy.
You’ll also find features like automatic air conditioning, heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors, an electric parking brake, and rear parking sensors. The practical touches continue with keyless entry, a handy mobile phone compartment and well-placed cup holders. Personal comfort is taken care of for the driver with a six-way adjustable seat with an armrest and lumbar support and, for the passengers, a dual bench seat.
The Movano Hydrogen joins the Vauxhall Vivaro Hydrogen van, which is being trialled with UK fleets this year to assess the viability of hydrogen vehicles in commercial settings.
The hydrogen-powered vehicles will line up alongside Vauxhall’s completely electrified commercial fleet, the Combo Electric, Vivaro Electric and Movano Electric, which have been available since 2021.
Starting at £70,400 (excluding VAT and charges) for the L3H2 model and rising to £72,020 for the larger L4H3 van, all Movano Hydrogens will be eligible for the government’s Plug-in Van Grant, which is currently worth £5,000.
