- Dacia Spring crowned ‘Best EV Bargain’
- Trophy from TopGear.com Electric Awards 2025
- It’s ‘honest and enjoyable’, says judges
- Incoming Renault 4 wins overall Electric Car of the Year gong
Three cheers for affordable electric motoring - as the Dacia Spring has just been crowned ‘Best EV Bargain’ at the annual TopGear.com Electric Awards.
The Dacia Spring is the cheapest electric car on sale in the UK right now, with prices beginning at £14,995.
You can also lease a Dacia Spring with Select for a LOT less than you might expect. Check out the latest deals here.
Yet the Spring is clearly punching above its price tag, with the writers at TopGear.com praising the hatchback for its no-nonsense appeal and value for money.
Jack Rix, Editor-In-Chief at Top Gear, said: “For the second year running, the Dacia Spring is the biggest bargain on the planet EV. The Spring’s appeal is that it is everything that most electric cars aren’t: it’s not over-wrought or heavy-handed, it’s honest and enjoyable and manages to keep the dream of a low impact electric car alive.”
The Spring’s EV range isn’t enormous, topping out at around 140 miles, but it’s more than ample for city commuting and it’s still capable of hitting a top speed of around 80 mph.
Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, added: “Spring’s price is so competitive that it’s one of the UK’s most affordable cars full stop, which is even more remarkable when its usability and standard equipment are considered.”
Elsewhere at the TopGear.Com Electric Awards, the incoming Renault 4 (above) was named overall ‘Electric Car of the Year’. You can’t lease one just yet, though, which is the reason we’re focusing here on the Dacia Spring instead.
