Dacia Jogger named ‘Best Family Car’ by Autocar

There were big wins for Dacia at the 2023 Autocar Awards - with the Jogger named Best Family Car and the Sandero hatchback (below) winning the Best Budget Car prize.

The annual industry bash highlights the very best in British motoring.

And while premium vehicles featured prominently, with the Range Rover Sport scooping the Best SUV gong and the BMW M3 Touring going home with the Best Dream Car prize, there was plenty of love for more affordable brands, too.

The Dacia Jogger seven seater triumphed in the family car category while the humble Sandero hatchback was deemed perfect for those on a budget.

Autocar Editor Mark Tisshaw singled-out the Jogger (above) for special praise, saying: “The Dacia Jogger is 2023’s unexpected hero. Given the rampant rise in the cost of living that we’ve experienced in the past year, the Jogger is a particularly relevant car for families. It offers all the space and utility you need, including a genuinely usable third row of seats, for significantly less money than most standard hatchbacks. What truly makes the Jogger a great car is that it drives so much better than it strictly needs to. The enduring feeling is that the Jogger is so much better at everything it does than it has any right to for the amount of money Dacia charges for it.”

The MG 4 EV (below) - one of the cheapest electric vehicles to lease right now - was handed the Best Electric Car award.

Elsewhere the electric Hyundai Ioniq 6 (below) continued its march towards cult status with yet another award win - this time for Best Company Car.

On the Ioniq 6, judges said: “An extroverted streamlined saloon may not be the most obvious choice of company car, but at a time when car parks are heavy on identikit crossovers, the IONIQ 6 is quite a statement. At the same time, it is a cutting-edge EV offering 800v architecture, ultra-fast charging, a large battery, good mechanical efficiency and a class-leading range. Add to that generous rear seat space and enjoyable driving manners, and it is plainly a highly impressive electric car.”

The Best Small Car title went to the new Jeep Avenger (below), the Volkswagen Multivan was named Best Large Car, and the irrepressible Honda Civic Type R hot hatch was named Best Fun Car - an accolade that’s tough to disagree with!
