French manufacturer Peugeot has revealed a motorsport-inspired addition to its light commercial vehicle line-up — the new Expert Sport.
The van brings performance styling and an upgraded interior to the range, with the brand drawing from its racing heritage while being careful not to use the 'Peugeot Sport Engineered', or 'PSE' branding — it doesn’t want anybody thinking this is an actual sports van.
While there are no mechanical changes — don’t expect lowered sports suspension or limited slip differentials — the Expert Sport’s exterior styling has been updated courtesy of a bespoke body kit with a front lip spoiler, side skirts that include integrated front mudguards, and a new-look rear bumper.
A ‘kryptonite’ liveried rear spoiler further enhances the sporty aesthetic. The livery can also be seen in the unique badging on the front grille, while a bold trim line around the van’s sides solidifies the look. 18-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels fitted with high-load capacity Nankang tyres finish off the sport styling.
Inside the Expert Sport, the seats are hand-crafted from eco-leather, which Peugeot says is scratchproof, tear-resistant, hard-wearing, breathable, and moisture-regulating. This makes it well-suited to the demands of a working van.
The seat’s sports styling hasn’t been overlooked, either. Finished with bold Kryptonite stitching, they are embossed with a ‘SPORT’ logo and perforated for improved ventilation.
Equipment levels go beyond the current top-spec Asphalt trim: Keyless entry and start, dual-zone electronic climate control, a heated driver’s seat and steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging and thorax-side airbags for added safety set the model apart.
Like the Asphalt models, the Sport comes with Peugeot’s i-Connect infotainment system. The system features a 10.0-inch touchscreen with TomTom 3D navigation, ‘OK Peugeot’ voice control integrated with ChatGPT, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Sport also has blind-spot detection, flank guard, front and rear parking sensors, LED headlights and a 180-degree reversing camera.
The Peugeot Expert Sport has two power options, although most will choose the 2.0-litre diesel engine. Paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, it delivers 180hp, making it the most powerful model in the Expert range (the common-or-garden diesel Expert makes do with a max of 145 hp).
The alternative option is the E-Expert Sport, which is powered by the same 136hp electric motor as the rest of the electric Peugeot Expert range. The 75kWh battery provides up to 209 miles of motoring between charges.
Order books are now open, with prices starting from £41,295 plus VAT and OTR charges. The electric E-Expert Sport starts from £51,845, but as it’s eligible for the government’s plug-in van grant, buyers can reduce the price tag by £5,000.
