Geneva Motor Show 2016 Preview

Another year arrives and that means another great set of new cars. There is no motoring event more famous than the Geneva Motor Show which continues to be the centre stage for manufacturers revealing their new models, future concepts and the stars of their current ranges. While the motoring calendar is increasingly populated by shows all over the world, its no secret that Geneva is ultimately the crucial event for manufacturers. So what can we expect from this year? There are plenty of exciting vehicles that have been announced for the show and many more that are hotly tipped to arrive in the Swiss city. Of course, there are always many surprises at Geneva but we've decided to take a look at the vehicles we can expect to grace this years event:

Always make a splash in Geneva, this year looks to be no different as Aston Martin look set to give an official unveiling to their supercharged DB11 model. The max ouptut is likely to sit around 600bhp and thanks to some leaked images we know a little more about what the final vehicle will look like.

It seems to have been a long time since the Q2, or Q1 as it was initially known, was revealed but now we are only a week away from seeing the smallest of Audi's flourishing SUV range. To give an idea of size, the vehicle will lock horns with the Nissan Juke and Renault's Captur.

Bugatti's Veyron replacement has caused plenty of hype in the industry, understandbly so after the huge footrpint the Veyron left on the market. There isn't a lot to go on with what the Chiron looks like but its power could be as staggering as 900bhp. At the moment the only pictures we have are of the vehicle under wraps, but it could take many styling cues from the Turismo model pictured above. Definitely one to watch.

There is a definite high-performance theme at this years show and the F-Type from Jaguar is a clear demonstrator of this, with over 200mph advertised the F-Type has been given a lightning quick engine and a number of other features which we will have a better idea of once the shows curtain falls. The F-Type was a truly quality vehicle so it will be very interesting to see how Jaguar build on its undoubted initial successes.

The 500h was seen at another of motorings major events in Detroit and Lexus have subsequently announced that a hybrid version of the vehicle would be joining the new cars engine range. Meet the 500h which is likely to have a 3.5-litre V6 engine producing a fair bit of power partnered with an electric motor as seen in many of Lexus' other flagship models.

Maserati announced they would be joining the popular trend of luxury manufacturers dipping their toes into the water of SUVs. A 4x4 vehicle with a sharp design that will certainly appeal to those who are looking for an inject of high-class luxury into this segment of the market. We don't know a great deal about the Levante at this moment but we do know that it will be featuring fairly prominently over the course of the show.

The C-Class has been a universal hit for Mercedes so its perhaps not surprising the brand has decided to introduce a convertible version of the car. Especially when you consider the excellent form that Mercedes have when it comes to convertibles. Engines are likely to be towards the top of the current C-Class selection and early shots give it a very defining design that will be arriving later this year.

A new Scenic has been considered slightly overdue and Renault will be hoping the new Scenic can capitalize on a booming SUV market. A smart design including a longer wheelbase, 20-inch wheels and lower roofline could win it many friends on the showfloor at Geneva. We will also get a better look at the vehicle's interior and its engine lineup.

Seat revealed the first SUV a few weeks back and you can read all about their latest reveal and what we can expect from it at Geneva here.

The new Vauxhall GT Concept could steal the headlines at the show, read about their latest concept reveal here. There will also be a facelifted Mokka arriving in Geneva, known as the Mokka X.

The Tiguan, already a fairly dominating road presence will be getting even bigger with the addition of a seven-seater model. That won't be the only vehicle gracing the VW stand at Geneva though, Volkswagen are also likely to reveal a Coupe styled SUV similar to the Range Rover Evoque known only as T-Cross (pictured) at the moment. There will also be new additions at the other end of the sizing scale with the VW UP! getting a face-lift.

Two premium models will be revealed by Volvo. The fresh new V90 has been spiced up signficantly and could do very well with an 8-speed auto gearbox cutting economy and emissions for drivers. Even the most basic D4 Diesel engine will return a promising 62.8mpg and just 119g/km. The slightly smaller V40 has had a lot less about it revealed but early pictures suggest it really looks the part and the success of the original V40 is likely to be replicated in the updated model, though its another vehicle where the show is likely to reveal a lot more than what we currently have.

These are some of Geneva Motor Show 2016's key models but its by no means all of them, there is also likely to be additions from Honda with a new Civic and it looks like SKoda will be revealing a vehicle slightly larger than the current Yeti purely known as Vision S. Once again, we expect it to be a great show and we're looking forward to seeing some of the surprise reveals alongside what already looks to be an exciting set of vehicles.
