This is the world’s maddest Nissan Micra - and it’s here to preview (in a slightly unusual way) the incoming Micra EV.
The car you’re looking at is the now legendary Nissan Micra 350SR.

It’s a tricked-out, balls-to-the-wall vehicle unlike any other Micra you’ve seen before and we got to experience its speed (and NOISE) at the world-famous Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire this week.
Firstly, though, the Micra 350SR is going to take a little bit of explaining…

Rewind to the early Noughties, and Nissan decided to showcase the Micra’s racing pedigree in Japanese motorsport by creating a true one off.
Based on a Sunderland-built ‘K12’ Micra from 2002, the folks with oily fingers at Nissan whipped out the rear seats in order to make way for a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine borrowed from a Nissan Murano (an SUV that’s been discontinued here in the UK but is still available in other global markets).

Nissan took that 3.5-litre mill and added headers from a Nissan 350Z coupe and high-lift cams and induction tech from the firm’s performance Nismo division.
The result is around 300 hp in a car that weighs just 1,200 kg and performance that Nissan says is ‘more than adequate’. After being taken for a spirited ride around a circuit by Nissan’s tame racing driver Nick Jackson, ‘adequate’ undersells it somewhat.

Now, fresh for 2025, Nissan has treated the Micra 350SR to a restomod for its 23rd birthday.
The basic underpinnings of the car remain the same but the 350SR was handed to the experts at Nissan Design Europe in Paddington, London – the same team responsible for the new Micra EV, which is due to launch imminently.

You’ll see the in-bound Micra EV’s influence in the 350SR’s distinctive new LED headlights and futuristic face. The cabin also now enjoys a 9-inch touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto and new speakers. Not that you’ll be able to hear any music over the din of the engine, mind.

As for the all-new Nissan Micra EV, that car shares an electric platform with the award-winning Renault 5, so you can expect good things.
You’ll enjoy retro looks that hark back to the Micra from the Nineties, as well as a range of up to 248 miles between charges. Full details are due to be revealed in the coming days so watch this space.
