Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio stage a comeback

  • Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio on comeback trail
  • Production had previously been wound down
  • Alfa Romeo’s EV replacements won’t arrive until 2027
  • Order books re-open March 2026
  • Includes both the entry-level models and Quadrifoglio performance variants

Alfa Romeo is preparing to re-open order books for its Giulia and Stelvio models - marking a stay of execution for the seductive siblings.

The Giulia and Stelvio’s days look to have been numbered as Alfa Romeo wound down production, focusing instead on electric replacements.

Those EV successors haven’t materialised just yet.

So, the Giulia saloon and Stelvio SUV are back on the comeback trail as order books are set to reopen this March.

Alfa Romeo has confirmed the models will be available until 2027 - at which point battery-powered substitutes will be ushered-in.

This week, Alfa has been championing the return of its red-hot Quadrifoglio variants in particular.

But the entry-level, 280hp Giulia and Stelvio will also be available once more after a brief hiatus.

Why has Alfa Romeo done a U-turn on the Giulia and Stelvio?

The Giulia and Stelvio are returning due to customer demand, Alfa tells us.

A spokesperson said it was: “A decision that forms part of the brand's strategy to extend production of the current Giulia and Stelvio to 2027, in response to requests from enthusiasts and to maintain the link with two iconic Biscione models. Giulia and Stelvio are also available with a 280hp petrol engine in Sprint and Veloce trims, alongside the Intensa Special Series.”

Santo Ficili, CEO, Alfa Romeo, praised the Quadrifoglio models in particular, adding: “The Quadrifoglio is the most authentic expression of Alfa Romeo sportiness and of our cars, designed for real fans of driving, with the focus always on the driver. We're sure it will continue to inspire our future.”

What does Alfa Romeo ‘Quadrifoglio’ mean?

Quadrifoglio is Italian for four-leaf clover, and lucky lease customers will see clover-shaped symbols on their cars.

It’s a badge affixed to Alfa’s most high-performance vehicles and the name dates all the way back to 1923.

Both the Giulia Quadrifoglio and the Stelvio Quadrifoglio are made using ultra-light materials, such as aluminium for the engine and carbon fibre for the transmission shaft, bonnet, spoiler, side skirts, dashboard and panels. The Giulia Quadrifoglio also gets a carbon-fibre front splitter.

Powering both cars is a 2.9-litre twin turbo V6 engine developing 520hp. The rear-wheel drive Giulia will rocket gracefully from 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds while the Stelvio is capable of all-wheel drive and is actually quicker off the mark, covering the first 62mph in 3.8 seconds.

As before, the Alfa Romeo Giulia will be a leasing alternative to the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Audi A5 while the Stelvio will trade blows with the BMW X3 and Porsche Macan.

David Harding was fantastic. Contacted me at all my renewal dates. Sourced a car other companies failed to deliver. Very easy smooth transaction.
