2015 Vauxhall Astra - Everything you would like to know

A British built Vauxhall Astra is to receive facelift updates arriving later this year! Take a look the details of new Vauxhall Astra here.

2015 Vauxhall Astra

The original Astra was one of the UK’s bestselling vehicles running for last35 years and counting! The Vauxhall Astra and Corsa are one of the most popular cars in the Vauxhall range and allowed Vauxhall to establish itself and the manufacturer.

The current model was launched in 2009 and received styling and quality updates in 2013. The Astra has always given a reason to UK buyers to drive an economical and affordable car.

If we take a look in 2015, our UK automotive industries has givenfresh updates to the latest models such as new Land Rover Discovery Sport, most ever-popular Range Rover Evoque, BMW 1 Series, Kia Picanto, Jaguar XE, Honda Jazz and many more are coming later this year.

With the Astra, Vauxhall is also bringing its small city car Viva back to the UK market again which was discontinued after 1979.

Let’s take a look what we can expect in new 2015 Vauxhall Astra –

DESIGN AND STYLING:

The biggest news is the new Astra is around 130kilograms lighter than its predecessor and some of the models are up to 200 kilograms lighter.

The new Astra is 49 millimetres shorter, 26 millimetres lower and has a 23mm shorter wheelbase than the car it replaces. Also its next-generation 1.6 diesel auto engine will be lighter than a current 2.0-litre of the same power by the order of 200kilograms.

The new Astra has received a more dynamic look with its slimmer front lenses that merges into a more prominent grille and bonnet fluting. The side profile shows a more sloping roofline even on the five-door, so we can expect the three-door to look even sportier than ever before.

ENGINE UPDATES:

The new Astra will provide a variety of engine choices that ranges from 94bhp (brake horse power) to 196bhp (brake horse power); including Vauxhall’s smallest 1.0 litre three cylinder engine with 1.4 and 1.6 litre turbocharged petrol engines. A 1.6 litre diesel engine is also to be offered for diesel buyers.

REVISED INTERIOR:

The new Astra will also receive interior quality updates including a much larger central screen inspired by the Adam and Corsa. The passenger room and has been improved with more rear knee and headroom, while the door opening is much wider for easier access. The boot space is rumoured to be close to the current model’s 370 litres.

RELEASE DATE AND PRICE

The new Astra is expected to arrive in November 2015 and will be built at its Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port Plant in Cheshire. The Cheshire plant is currently responsible for the current Astra and Astra Sports Tourer and the new car is expected to set to form a significant factor in a £125 million investment which will generate a total of 700 new jobs.

As with the current different body styles of Astra, the new model continues to be offered with different body styles such as a sportier three door, a more practical five-door and a family friendly estate.

Vauxhall has not released the pricing details yet; however we would expect it to start at around £13,000 for the entry level model.
