Take a look at the new Polestar 3 - a brand new premium, all-electric SUV crossover that’ll do battle with the likes of the BMW iX, Audi e-tron and the Mercedes-Benz EQC.
It’s been a busy few days for Polestar, a brand that’s jointly owned by Volvo Cars and China’s Geely Holding Group.
It recently unveiled the elegant and rapid Polestar 5 GT saloon, while also recently updating its Tesla Model 3-rivalling Polestar 2.
And, after much speculation, Polestar has thrown the sheets off its upcoming Polestar 3, which is due to hit the roads in 2022.
While precise details remain scant, what we are being told is that the Polestar 3 will ‘redefine SUVs for the electric age’ and it’ll also be built in the US.
Polestar describes it as a ‘performance SUV’, so you can expect a healthy amount of power, just like the 402 bhp you get with the range-topping Polestar 2.
At a recent press conference where company bosses discussed Polestar’s vision, brand and growth plans, the Polestar 3 was also said to be one of the most ‘climate-responsible cars ever made’ and will, in time, offer autonomous highway piloting powered by the ‘best-in-class’ Light Detection and Ranging, aka ‘LiDAR’ sensor.
Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath said: “We are not a virtual company waiting to build factories and sell cars; we are an actual company already building and selling cars around the world.
“Our two award-winning cars are on the road in 14 markets globally and we expect our global sales volume to reach around 29,000 vehicles this year.”
We’ll bring you further details about the Polestar 3 as and when they arrive.
But in the meantime, check-out some of the first images of the upcoming Polestar 5 GT, below:
