Electric Peugeot E-3008 makes debut

This the new Peugeot E-3008 - the first fully-electric version of the firm’s 3008 crossover.

The 3008, as we know and love it in its current guise, was first launched in 2017 and has gone on to be a real winner in the family SUV leasing market.

In existing petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid form, the 3008 competes with big-hitters like the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage, Skoda Karoq and Volkswagen Tiguan.

But this new battery-powered E-3008 shifts into a whole new leasing market, and rubs shoulders with the Volkswagen ID.4, Tesla Model Y, and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

The first thing you need to know is that the Peugeot E-3008 will be available to lease early next year, and you’ll have a choice of three different powertrains.

The entry-level, two-wheel drive model makes use of a 73 kWh battery and has a range of up to 326 miles between charges. Which isn’t too shabby at all, considering the entry-level Tesla Model Y can manage 283 miles between plug-ins.

There’s a more powerful, 320 bhp, dual-motor E-3008, which also gets a 300-plus mile range between charges.

And then, at the top of the E-3008 tree, there’s a Long Range variant, which gets a much larger 98 kWh battery and can, according to Peugeot, journey for a maximum of 435 miles. That Long Range capability is headline-grabbing in the extreme, especially when you consider that Mercedes-Benz quotes a max range of 453 miles for its revolutionary EQS.

Rapid charging at 160 kW means the E-3008’s battery can be recharged from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes for the standard range version, and in less than 30 minutes for the Long-Range version.

Hybrid powertrains will also be available further down the line.

When it comes to styling, Peugeot describes the E-3008 as a ‘fastback’, with a sleek new shape, ‘floating’ rear spoiler, and ‘feline lines’, according to the French firm.

You also get a very decent 520 litres of boot space - which is identical to that of the previous 3008.

There are just two trim levels in the uncluttered line-up - Allure and GT.

The entry-level Allure models get a single-tone paint finish and half leather-effect upholstery in the cabin. There’s also a rear camera, rear parking sensors, 19-inch alloys, and twin 10-inch digital panels.

The GT E-3008 comes with two-tone paint with black roof, Alcantara upholstery, larger 20-inch alloys, front parking sensors, motorised tailgate, heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless charging, ambient lighting, and Peugeot’s impressive ‘Panoramic i-Cockpit’ with a curved 21-inch screen.

There’s also plenty of driver assistance and safety tech available, including adaptive cruise control, semi-automatic lane change and ‘early speed recommendation’ warning, which will even tell you to go easy with your right foot if it starts raining.

There’s no word yet on price, but those in the know reckon it’ll cost from £40,000 upwards. We’ll bring you leasing costs as and when we get them.

In the meantime you can lease the current Peugeot 3008 with Select Car Leasing from just £220 per month* - as it’s on special offer.
