The Smart #5 launched in 2025 as the firm’s largest car to date, making it a rival to other mid-size EVs like the Tesla Model Y, Audi Q4 e-tron and the Kia EV6. It sits alongside the smaller Smart #1 and Smart #3.
It’s fair to say there’s a Smart #5 lease to suit all sorts of lease customers.
Entry-level RWD models are equipped with a 76 kWh battery that unlocks a range of up to 288 miles between charges, while variants further up the grade level get a larger 100 kWh battery and a max 366-mile range.
Performance enthusiasts will want to choose the Smart #5 Brabus - a fully-fledged hot SUV with power of 645 PS and the ability to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.8 seconds. Those stats make the #5 Brabus more potent than a Porsche Macan Electric Turbo.
Smart - a brand jointly owned by Mercedes-Benz and China’s Geely - promises a car that’s ‘less ordinary’ and ‘first class in every way’ with its #5.
The Smart #5 is truly multipurpose, and could be perfect for lease customers with a sense of adventure. The seats fold flat to create a dedicated sleeping space (you can watch the stars from underneath the large panoramic roof) while ‘Summit Edition’ models boast enhanced off-road skills and more rugged styling.
There are eye-catching design flourishes throughout the cabin, particularly in the dual 13-inch display with its distinctive rounded-off corners.
Meanwhile 800V electric architecture ensures super-fast charging from 10-80% in around 18 minutes.
Entry-level Pro models come with the smaller 76 kWh battery. Standard-issue equipment includes 19-inch alloys, synthetic leather upholstery, a 13-inch OLED touchscreen, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, lane change assist, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, autonomous parking tech, wireless phone charging, panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and Vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability.
Smart #5 models at the Pro+ grade and above get a larger 100 kWh battery, power of 363 PS, as well as advanced comfort features.
The Pulse trim ups the power to 587 PS and boasts all-wheel drive. It also features dual 13-inch screens.
The 363 PS Premium trim is the ‘elegant individualist’ of the Smart #5 range and offers the ‘ultimate comfort experience’. Expect twin 13-inch screens and a Sennheiser sound system.
The Smart #5 Brabus is a performance SUV with power of 645 PS and the ability to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 3.8 seconds. It boasts sportier exterior styling, a Beats audio system, and microfibre suede seats.
Off-road focused Summit models feature enhanced all-road performance, outdoor-inspired exterior styling, and power of 587 PS.

The Smart #5 is a mid-size, family-focused electric SUV. At around 4.7 metres long, it’s similar in proportions to the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 and Audi Q4 e-tron. In terms of practicality, the Smart #5 boasts a large 630-litre boot (expanding to 1,530 litres with the rear seats folded) and a 72-litre front trunk.
Entry-level models come with a 74 kWh battery. Power of 340 PS goes to the rear-wheels for a range of around 288 miles. A larger 100 kWh battery is available with Smart #5 models higher up the trim ladder, allied to either RWD or AWD. The maximum EV range for the larger battery is 366 miles between charges. Brabus models are seriously quick, with power of 645 PS.
The smaller 74 kWh battery supports 150 kW charging while models with the larger 100 kWh pack feature an 800-volt electrical system that enables rapid charging at 400 kW. Here a charge from 10-80% is possible in between 15-18 minutes.
The cabin boasts a 10.3-inch driver display, two 13-inch OLED infotainment screens, and a 25.6-inch augmented reality head-up display (on certain models). A generative AI assistant, voiced by a lion avatar named ‘Leo’, responds to natural language and controls many in-car functions. Heated and ventilated front seats come as standard. The seats also fold flat into a ‘king-size’ sleeping space.
Some versions are. The larger 100 kWh battery is available with all-wheel drive (AWD), while the smaller pack is rear-wheel drive (RWD) only. The Smart #5 is also a five-seater only with no option of seven seats.
