BMW enjoy a miraculous March

Author: Select Contracts     Date: 17-11-2014

BMW enjoyed a marvellous March turnaround, with more than 26,000 new registered cars. The impressive figures were in keeping with the general incline for new-car reg’s for the month – often one of the most profitable - but, despite this it remains an impressive feat for the Bavarian manufacturer who continues to enjoy the growing interest in luxury vehicles. There was good news for the model line as well, with the BMW 3 Series climbing into the top 10 for the first time this calendar year – a place it did not return to until June. A clear demonstration of the success in enjoyed in early spring for BMW, and the month still stands as BMW’s best by a long while, although sales are generally increasing after a slow turn of the year.

BMW outstrips traditional rivals

BMW also outstripped its traditional rival in the luxury car market: Mercedes, who only managed 22,369. This gave BMW a very respectable 5.8% share of the market, another commendable figure considering that Ford and Vauxhall amassed a total new-reg line in excess of 113,000 cars.

The German manufacturer will also be pleased that March, turned the tide – albeit briefly – on new registration improvements on last year. There was a 24% increase for their numbers this year in comparison to the efforts from 2013. This makes March an exceedingly special month, as BMW's year on year improvements have been patchy so far to say the very least.

BMW making the most of growth in Leasing

March and September's new registration numbers usually bear fruit for manufacturers, so a spike is perhaps only natural. But, there’s no doubt that this most successful of months allowed BMW to enjoy a purple patch - as their sales enjoyed a momentary boost. BMW lease numbers are undoubtedly increasing aswell – as business car leasing becomes a more accepted and renown form of car ownership. You can view selection of BMW lease deals here

Despite September’s highly touted improvements, it failed to pip March and while BMW's autumnul efforts evoke admiration -  24,891 cars were registered - they don't offer competition to that miraculous March. Furthermore, September was actually a -8.85% dip on registrations from 2013. The statistics only tell half the story, but they certainly paint an interesting picture – and one that shows a very sturdy looking BMW.
