The Skoda Enyaq iV is officially Britain’s ‘Best Value Electric Car’, according to the good people at Auto Trader, after the crossover scooped the coveted prize at the magazine’s ‘New Car Awards’.
Meanwhile it was also a good night for the all-electric Polestar 2- which took home no less than three awards - for ‘New Car of the Year’, ‘Most Loved Car’ and ‘Best Premium Electric Car’.
Because budgets are tight right now, let’s start with affordable Enyaq iV - and let’s also hope it’s already got a trophy cabinet…
The all-electric SUV-coupe recently won the ‘Best Large Electric Car’ gong from Parker’s, the ‘Best Family Car’ from Autocar and ‘Best Value Electric SUV’ from What Car?
And now the Enyaq iV can add this latest trophy to the pile.
The awards are actually decided by more than 156,500 real car owners, who voted for 19 of the Awards’ 22 categories.
So Erin Baker, Auto Trader’s Editorial Director, reckons the prizes really do herald bona fide ‘consumer champions’.
She adds:
“The Skoda Enyaq iV gives owners a comfortable, safe and cost-efficient EV, with high quality features and interior. When speaking about the car, owners told us that they were over the moon with their decision to buy one. Some commented on the money they've saved on servicing and fuel, which one consumer said almost covered the cost of the finance they are paying.”
The iV was also praised for being spacious and practical, coming as it does with a mega 585 litre boot.
Baker adds: “We received some brilliant feedback from owners who said the car was an excellent package. They commented on its ample accommodation and equipment, its good blend of performance and economy and finally that it’s comfortable and reliable.”
The Enyaq iV can be leased with Select Car Leasing from around £435 per month* - and gives you a range of up to 329 miles between charges.
The Polestar 2 fastback also got a ton of love from Auto Trader readers.
The ‘New Car of the Year’ - which can be leased from Select for around £480 per month* - was praised for its ‘style, innovative technology and high-quality ownership experience’.
Baker said:
“The Polestar 2 is a stylish, all-electric sporting crossover that takes zero-emissions motoring seriously while preserving a premium ownership experience, with high-quality tech alongside a vegan interior. It’s no surprise that it has taken the UK by storm since its initial launch in 2020.”
The Vauxhall Mokka-e - which achieves up to 209 miles between charges thanks to a 50 kWh battery - was labelled a brilliant ‘all-rounder’ as it was handed the Erin Baker Award, which shines a spotlight on sustainability and great design.
Baker explains:
“The Vauxhall Mokka-e, with its sharp, sporty looks, a whole range of vibrant colours, a decent touchscreen and a genuinely usable electric range ticks every box for me this year. It’s the best all-rounder, a huge well done to Vauxhall!”
A Vauxhall Mokka-e lease can be had from around £328 per month*.
And continuing the theme of affordable electric vehicles, the inexpensive MG5 EV was also honoured with the ‘Best Car for Dogs’ after it drew praise for its space and practicality.
Baker reveals: “When it comes to the best car for dogs, consumers valued space, comfort and ease of use for transporting their four-legged friends."
The MG5 EV offers up to 250 miles of driving range and rapid charging to 80% in just 61 minutes. And it can be leased via Select for around £295 per month*.
