New ‘Performance’ updates for Audi RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback

Audi has gifted more power to its iconic RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback models - and also given them a new ‘Performance’ title.

So, from now on, all RS 6 Avants and RS 7 Sportbacks will have the word ‘Performance’ next to their names, as standard.

And Audi can confidently bestow such a label upon two of its most sought-after vehicles, because its engineers have eked an extra 30 PS of power - and 500 Nm of torque - from the 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine both cars share.

That TFSI engine now has an output of 630 PS and a maximum torque of 850 Nm.

It’s a change that sees the 0-62mph sprint time fall by 0.2 seconds to 3.4 seconds.

And it’s a feat achieved by doing some clever tinkering with the turbo system - fitting larger chargers and boosting pressure from 2.4 to 2.6 bar.

There are other tweaks designed to save weight and make both the RS 6 Avant and the RS 7 Sportback even more potent.

The insulation between the engine compartment and the cabin has been reduced, offering an ‘exciting, next-level sound experience’ as well as reducing the cars’ heft.

There are also upgrades to the standard level of kit offered in both cars.

The entry Performance models now get a premium Bang & Olufsen sound system, a ‘Park Assist Pack’ with ‘assist plus’ - which means you get ‘manoeuvre assist’ and remote parking tech - a 360 degree camera, head up display and 22 inch alloys.

The ‘RS Dynamic Package’ is also now standard fit. It includes a boost in maximum speed to 174 mph, updated all-wheel steering, and a Quattro sport differential on the rear axle.

A couple of new colours have been added to the mix - metallic and matt Ascari Blue and matt Dew Silver - while the cabin has also been boosted. You can now enjoy, for example, an uprated ‘virtual cockpit’ screen that has new traffic light icons for Launch Control, so you know precisely when to gun it off the line.

An Audi spokesperson says:

“More powerful and faster than any RS 6 and RS 7 to date: the new Audi RS 6 Avant performance and the RS 7 Sportback performance are bursting with extras that sharpen the models’ appearance and make for a more emotive driving experience.”

The RS 6 Avant Performance and the RS 7 Sportback Performance are priced from £112,650 and £116,305 respectively.

Meanwhile you can lease the current version of the Audi RS 6 Avant from around £1,114 per month.

We decided after 5 years of leasing with another company to step away and try somewhere else. From the first google search to finding Select Car Leasing to engaging straight away on calling up with Danny Cutmore, I must say our experience has been beyond positive. Phone calls always answered or promised phone calls received, email responses and queries answered to help us find the best deal and all in a timely manner. Danny’s customer service is brilliant and I would highly recommend to anyone that calls, ask for Danny. Whilst we are still awaiting the delivery of our car over the coming months, I am hoping that the positive experience so far will continue down the line. Thank you so far to Danny and Select Car Leasing.
