Mercedes Benz EQS Review
The Mercedes-Benz EQS is so comfortable, according to our reviewer, that you could well end up living in it. Find out why the EQS really is a car with the ‘wow’ factor.
The luxurious, seven-seat EQS SUV sits at the very top of the Mercedes-Benz electric range.
And with a range of up to 365 miles between charges, and considerable power of 544 hp with the most opulent models, the EQS SUV is a real rival to the Tesla Model X, as well as to the Volvo EX90.
The EQS SUV is, as you can guess by the name, a higher-riding, more spacious version of the Mercedes-Benz EQS Saloon.
It’s also a cut above the smaller EQE SUV - with the EQE SUV again being a variant of the EQE Saloon.

The EQS 450 4MATIC models have a range of 365 miles and 360 hp, resulting in a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 6.0 seconds.
The more potent EQS 580 4MATIC dials the power up to 544 hp while still being able to travel for up to 364 miles before you need to stop and plug it in once more.
The EQS 580 will also reach 62 mph from a standstill in 4.6 seconds - which isn’t quite as rapid as the Tesla Model X but is still properly quick.
Whichever powertrain you choose, the EQS will support rapid charging at 200 kW DC, which can take the 108.4 kWh battery from 10-80% full in just 31 minutes. Be sure to get the most out of every charge by consulting our guide on picking your ideal electric car charger.
There are two trim levels to consider - the base ‘AMG Line Premium Plus’ and the range-topping ‘Business Class’.
As you might expect from such a premium model, each line is brimming with both state-of-the-art technology and creature comforts.
The AMG Line Premium Plus models benefit from adaptive air suspension, rear axle steering, a panoramic sliding sunroof, a sophisticated air filtration system, a fingerprint scanner, and the Mercedes-Benz ‘Driving Assistance package Plus’ package, which includes semi-autonomous driving wizardry such as Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Brake Assist with cross-traffic function.
Choosing Business Class unlocks extras such as a ‘Hyperscreen’ in the cabin, massage seats, an entertainment system for rear passengers, and an augmented reality head-up display.
What’s more, you can enjoy all of this grandeur while paying just 2% Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax up until 2025.
