The Grecale is a midsize SUV from historic manufacturer Maserati that goes head-to-head with the Porsche Macan and the Audi SQ5. It’s also the most affordable offering from Maserati, sitting behind the larger Levante SUV.

The Grecale itself is among a new breed of cars that are determined not to be pigeonholed. Maserati calls it an ‘SUV’, though its sleek lines scream ‘Coupe’.
It’s also ‘everyday exceptional’, according to Maserati, which means having the practicality of plenty of legroom in the rear, and a 535 litre boot, alongside sumptuous luxury.
There are three trim levels to choose from with the traditional engine - entry-level ‘GT’, mid-range ‘Modena’ and range-topping ‘Trofeo’. Whichever Grecale you choose, it’s all-wheel-drive as standard.
The most desirable Trofeo models boast a 3.0 litre V6 engine and a 0-62mph time of just 3.8 seconds.
Meanwhile base GT models, which have power of 300 hp thanks to a 2.0 litre petrol engine, are generously specced as standard.
You can expect 19 inch alloys, full leather interior, a 12.3 inch central screen and another 8.8 inch display for extra controls.
There are cutting-edge driver assistance and safety systems available, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keep tech, while the Grecale also enjoys Maserati’s Vehicle Domain Control Module (VDCM), which maximises traction and performance depending on the road conditions and your driving style.
