About the Kia XCeed
The Kia XCeed was first launched in July 2019 and has proven popular since its inception, accounting for almost 30% of sales for the overall ‘Ceed’ family.
As the name suggests, the XCeed is a higher-riding, more SUV-like take on the old Kia Ceed hatchback, which has now been discontinued.
The Kia XCeed is slightly larger than the similarly-shaped Kia Stonic, but not quite as spacious as the Kia Niro SUV or Kia Sportage.
The base engine is a 1.0-litre petrol with decent power of 113bhp and which can be mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
Why lease the Kia XCeed?
The Kia XCeed will appeal to any lease customers who like the agility of a hatchback but also crave the additional space offered by an SUV.
The XCeed meets those two bodystyles somewhere in the middle, and its sleek, coupe-like styling offers ‘sportier-than-ever aesthetics’, according to Kia.
All models come generously equipped, with the base trim boasting black cloth and artificial leather seat upholstery, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with sat nav, and an electric driver’s seat lumbar support.
There’s even a sporty engine up for grabs with the range-topping GT-Line S trim, with a new 1.6-litre T-GDi engine producing 177bhp and 265Nm torque, enough to power the XCeed from 0-to-62mph in 8.5 seconds.

The entry-level Pure trim comes with 16-inch alloys, black cloth and artificial leather seat upholstery, LED headlights, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with sat nav, auto air con, and safety tech that includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist.
GT-Line
The mid-level GT-Line grade adds larger 18-inch alloys, uprated interior and exterior styling, privacy glass, heated seats, heated steering wheel and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go Functionality (with the automatic DCT gearbox only).
GT-Line S
Range-topping GT-Line S models boast a larger 12.3-inch driver display, tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof, leather and suede upholstery, outer rear heated seats in the back, an electric driver’s seat with memory function, wireless phone charging, powered tailgate, and a JBL sound system.

The Kia XCeed is what’s known as a ‘crossover’ - a vehicle that sits somewhere between an SUV and a hatchback in terms of its size and silhouette. It is, essentially, a roomier and more rugged version of the Kia Ceed hatchback (which has now been discontinued).
Engine options are really straightforward with the Kia XCeed, as there are essentially just two. The base powertrain is a 1.0-litre petrol engine that’s supported by 48V mild-hybrid tech and which offers power of 113bhp while returning up to 47mpg. The 1.0-litre engine can be enjoyed with either a manual or automatic gearbox.
The other engine - available exclusively with the range-topping GT-Line S trim - is a larger 1.6-litre petrol with 177bhp and 265Nm of torque. Those cars can accelerate from 0-to-62mph in 8.5 seconds and come as standard with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
The Kia XCeed’s boot weighs in at 426 litres with the rear seats in place, or 1,378 litres with the rear seats folded flat. That compares well with rivals, with the Mazda CX-30 offering 430-litres of luggage space and the hybrid version of the Toyota C-HR making do with 388 litres.
Yes, it’s roomier than the now-discontinued Ceed hatch, and also offers a higher ground clearance, though it’s not quite as large as the Kia Niro or Kia Sportage.
