GWM says the Ora 03 is just ‘at home on the urban streets as it is on winding rural roads’, making it perfect as an everyday driver.
The Ora 03 also boasts a head-turning design both inside and out. The exterior shape falls somewhere between the VW Beetle and MINI Cooper Electric while the well-appointed cabin is unashamedly retro, too.
It’s an exceptionally safe car, having been awarded the full five stars from industry assessors Euro NCAP, who also gave it a ‘best-in-class’ accolade.
That’s helped in part by the number of driver assistance and safety aids fitted as standard, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and an ‘intelligent evade’ system.
About the GWM Ora 03 hatchback
The Ora 03 was initially known as the ‘Funky Cat’ when it first launched in the UK back in 2022, though that unique moniker has now been dropped for something a little more understated.
The appeal of the 03 remains the same as before, however, being a fully-electric hatchback with a low price tag and yet which is loaded with kit as standard.
There’s a choice of two battery sizes, the largest of which can see the Ora 03 journeying in excess of 260 miles between charges.
All models enjoy rapid 100kW DC charging capabilities while the Ora 03 has also scored well in crash tests.

Entry-level Pure models boast a 10.25-inch multimedia infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and nat nav, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and start and facial recognition. Safety systems include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, intelligent evade and high beam assist.
Pro
Pro models get the larger 63 kWh battery as well as leatherette seating which is heated for front occupants, semi-automated ‘auto parking assist’, auto reversing, and front parking sensors.
GT
Sporty GT variants of the GWM Ora 03 feature unique exterior styling, including 18-inch alloys, more aggressive bumpers, wheel arch extensions, and a roof-mounted spoiler at the back. The cabin enjoys sporty red seat belts, a ‘GT’ embossed insignia in the front headrests, and ventilated and massaging front seats. GT models also feature a panoramic sunroof, launch control, and a heat pump for improved battery management.
