About the BYD Dolphin Surf
The BYD Dolphin Surf arrived on the leasing market in 2025 as one of the UK’s most affordable new electric vehicles.
It’s a stablemate of the slightly larger BYD Dolphin but also features more exuberant, youthful and sporty styling, complete with a large rear spoiler.
BYD says the Dolphin Surf is a small car that goes big on tech, with a 10.1-inch rotating touchscreen being one of its party pieces.
There are also fun flourishes in the cabin, including cyber punk-inspired air vents.

The BYD Dolphin Surf is also surprisingly practical, coming with a generous 308-litre boot which trumps rivals like the MINI Cooper Electric or the Hyundai Inster.

Boost
The mid-level Boost trim unlocks the larger 43.2 kWh battery and also features rain-sensing wipers, 16-inch alloys, and an electrically-adjustable driver’s seat.
Comfort
Range-topping Comfort models boast a 360-degree surround view camera, wireless charging, heated front seats, and a premium sound system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Comfort variants also have more power at 156 PS.
