We road-tested the BMW iX1 and explored all of its features, from EV range and charging to its spacious and well-appointed cabin.
A 11kW charging unit is standard, while you can opt for a 22kW three-phase AC charger, which can replenish the battery in under four hours.
There’s also rapid DC charging capability, at up to 130kW, which means you can take the battery from 10 to 80% full in just 29 minutes.

About the BMW iX1 SUV
The iX1 was first launched in 2022 and shares its body shell and chassis with the traditionally-fuelled BMW X1.
This versatile electric SUV is described by BMW as the perfect companion for every kind of adventure, whether it’s the daily commute or active weekends away.
It marks the entry-level into electric BMW SUV leasing, being more affordable than the larger iX2.
And the iX1 should prove easy to live with, thanks to rapid 130 kW DC charging, spacious interior, 40:20:40 folding rear seats, and a generous 490-litre boot.
Why lease the BMW iX1 SUV?

Which BMW iX1 SUV trim level should I lease?
Sport
The entry-level Sport grade brings you 17-inch alloys, cloth upholstery, LED headlights and LED rear lights, automatic tailgate, heated front seats, the BMW ‘Live Cockpit Plus’ system with curved display comprising 10.25-inch and 10.7-inch screens, a sport leather steering wheel, and through-loading system 40:20:40 rear folding seats. There’s a full suite of driver safety tech fitted as standard, including lane departure warning, speed limiting, front collision warning, left turn warning with brake function, and evasion assist.
xLine
Mid-range xLine models add larger 18-inch alloys, satin aluminium exterior trim and roof rails, high-gloss interior trim, a more luxurious instrument panel, and ‘Veganza’ perforated black upholstery.
M Sport
The desirable M Sport trim features 18-inch double-spoke alloys, BMW’s high-gloss Shadowline exterior trim, aluminium ‘Hexacube’, an M Sport leather steering wheel, and ‘M’ themed Alcantara Veganza upholstery. This grade also unlocks BMW’s sophisticated M Adaptive Suspension and front sport seats.
Shadow Edition
Range-topping Shadow Edition models boast 19-inch midnight grey alloy, red M Sport brake calipers, adaptive LED headlights, and dark window surrounds and roof rails.
