Businesses looking for a last-mile delivery van, but with very little cargo and not very far to go, can now look at the Citroen My Ami Cargo. The French firm is getting closer to bringing the diminutive micro-van to UK roads, announcing that it’ll cost £7,995 for cash buyers.
Powered by a tiny 8hp electric motor, the My Ami Cargo will reach top speeds of 28mph. While that’s not going to win many friends on the M1, it’s double the average speed of vehicles in the centre of London.
The 5.5kWh battery pack, roughly a tenth of the size fitted to the Renault Zoe car-derived van, will power the My Ami Cargo for up to 46 miles, with the load being carried having little impact on the vehicle’s range.
A charging cable is built into the passenger door frame, which attaches to a Type 2 connector, allowing a full charge to be completed in just three hours from a home wall box or a public charging point. For charging on the go, make sure you know how to charge when you can't charge at home.
Measuring just 2,410mm long - or one-quarter of a double-decker bus - there’s not much room in the cabin, but it might just serve your business perfectly. The driver perches on a seat alongside a modular storage area that can be configured to suit an individual’s needs. A 260-litre lidded box, large enough to accommodate almost 500 grapefruits, sits at the rear, while a two-position floor extends capacity to 400 litres or around 69 footballs.

What’s really exciting is that we are launching Ami in the UK due to huge demand from the public – it’s a perfect example of our ‘Power to the People’ thinking.”
Citroen insists that the My Ami Cargo will be sold exclusively online at a fixed price, with prices for the pocket-sized delivery machine starting at £7,995 before options. There aren’t any leasing options yet, but the Ami Cargo is available in its French homeland with a variety of finance deals.
