Update for the Volkswagen Touareg

Volkswagen has updated its flagship SUV, the Touareg, and it’s now looking sharper than ever.

The Touareg sits at the very summit of VW’s range of SUVs, ahead of the Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace seven-seater.

And this facelift to the third-generation Touareg brings uprated suspension, a tweaked front end and rear, and a red-illuminated Volkswagen logo at the back. Optional IQ.LIGHT HD LED matrix headlights are also available.

The new suspension set-up is an eye-catching addition, particularly in light of the UK’s potholed roads.

One of the key enhancements is a new roof load sensor that works in conjunction with the suspension electronics.

If you’re carrying a load up top - like a roof box or set of mountain bikes - the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) intervenes to increase driving stability.

And if no load is detected, the system adjusts to give you sportier performance. Depending on the model and trim level of the Touareg you lease, you can also enjoy active roll compensation and all-wheel steering, which makes the big SUV even more agile.

Looks wise, the updated Touareg has a taut new front face, with tweaks to the radiator grille, headlights and the front apron.

At the back there’s a continuous horizontal LED strip for the tail light clusters and an illuminated VW badge - something you could only previously get on VWs in China and the US.

There are updates for the cabin, too.

The voice control system has been enhanced, while lane-level navigation and high-resolution HD map data - accessed via the digital cockpit - have been ‘optimised’.

The interior is also a plusher place to be, with the centre console trims now softer than before, providing extra comfort.

As before, there’s a decent choice of powertrains with a Touareg lease, with petrol, diesel or plug-in hybrid engines available. Whichever unit you choose, it’ll be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and VW’s ‘4MOTION’ all-wheel drive system.

And perched at the very top of the Touareg tree is the performance version - the rapid Touareg R eHybrid.

A V6 petrol engine and an electric motor combine to chuck out power of 462 PS, while you also get blue painted brake callipers, 20 inch alloys, and a panoramic sunroof.

You can lease the VW Touareg with Select Car Leasing from £602 per month*. It’s a great lease alternative to the Audi Q7, BMW X5, or the Porsche Cayenne.

*Prices include VAT. Credit is Subject to Status, Ts and Cs and Arrangement Fees apply. Excess mileage may apply. Stock levels and prices correct as of 24/05/23.
