The time has arrived for new reg cars arriving from March 1 2017. From this date every new car will have the 17 registration plate that replaces the current 66 format (Issued since September 1,2 2016)
For many people there is nothing better than updating to the new number plate especially as new VED car tax rules will come into effect from 1st April & road tax prices will get changed!
LEASING A CAR
If youre leasing a car, then most of our contract prices are included with road tax however if you are buying a car then youll need to pay the VED road tax yourself.
There are many ways to pay road tax but the easiest way is to pay online on DVLA website here: https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax
We would suggest that if youre thinking to lease a car sometime soon, it will be especially worth looking within six weeks as after that the prices will be rising based on new VED road tax.
If you have a specific requirement, then it is likely the car needs to be factory ordered which will usually take around 8 to 12 weeks. However, we do also have in-stock cars which are available with a much quicker turnaround!
The new VED rule will also affect the low emission cars as well. For an example, with current VED rule, if you have car with 121-130 g/km CO2 then you pay as following,
- First year rate: £0
- Second year RFL: £110
- Third year RFL: £110
- Total: £220
After April 1st 2017,
- First year rate: £0
- Second year RFL: £110
- Third year RFL: £110
- Total: £220
Only zero emission cars have to pay nothing to travel on the UK roads.
