Welcome to a new dawn - this is the Revuelto, Lamborghini’s first ever plug-in hybrid supercar.
It is unmistakably Lambo, from the harsh hexagonal lines to a rear end that’d happily take your face off.
Yet the Revuelto is also a game changer for the Italian manufacturer, because it features a plug-in hybrid drivetrain boasting gargantuan amounts of power - 1,015 PS - as well as the ability to travel for around 8 miles using electricity alone.
The Revuelto isn’t the first Lambo hybrid, with the mild-hybrid, ultra-limited edition Sian having been unveiled in 2019.
But the Revuelto is the first Raging Bull that can be married to a wall socket, and it illustrates a new chapter, not just for Lamborghini, but for supercars the world over.
The angular all-wheel drive Revuelto replaces the Aventador in Lamborghini’s line-up, so let’s have a quick look at how the two cars compare.
The Aventador LP780-4 Ultimae - released in 2021 and the swansong for the car - had power of 780 PS courtesy of a 6.5 litres V12 petrol engine and could also hit 62 mph from a standstill in 2.8 seconds.
The Revuelto, on the other hand, wreaks its havoc with a traditional 6.5 litre V12 aided by three electric motors and a 3.8 kWh lithium-ion battery.
They all combine to create more than a thousand PS of power, 725 Nm of torque, and a 0-62 mph time of just 2.5 seconds.
That’s precisely the same acceleration speed as the plug-in hybrid Ferrari SF90 Stradale and the soon-to-be-launched Aston Martin Valhalla.
Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini Chief Technical Officer, says:
“With Revuelto we take the experience of driving a Lamborghini to a superior level. Revuelto takes a significant step forward in terms of reactivity and responsiveness to ensure the most emotive and natural driving in every environment. Revuelto is a car delivering the highest performance but our objective right from the start was to confirm it at the very summit of driving emotions.”
One of the other things we’ve learned from the Revuelto launch is that it’ll get a double-clutch gearbox - a Lambo first on a 12-cylinder engine.
There are also 13 different drive modes to choose from - with the ‘Strada’ mode making the Revuelto ‘perfectly suited to dynamic everyday driving and long trips’, according to Lamborghini. It’s a school run car as well as track weapon, then, and you even get a pair of infotainment touchscreens in the cabin.
The Revuelto is built around a state-of-the-art carbon fibre monocoque, with lashings of carbon fibre elsewhere in the bodywork.
The Revuelto monofuselage is 10% lighter than the Aventador chassis, and the front frame is 20% lighter than its aluminum predecessor.
And because the Revuelto is a plug-in hybrid, Lamborghini says overall CO2 emissions have been reduced by 30% compared to the Aventador Ultimae.
Lamborghini hasn’t revealed just how much the Revuelto will cost, but it’s expected to set you back around £450,000.
