First look at new Kia XCeed

There’s a sharp exterior - and a ‘sporty’ new GT-line trim level - for the incoming and updated Kia XCeed.

The XCeed, a popular SUV crossover, was first launched a couple of years ago back in 2019, and competes against rivals like the Volkswagen T-Roc, Skoda Karoq and the Hyundai Kona.

These are affordable, do-it-all family vehicles with a high ride height and appealing levels of kit. The XCeed is already available as a plug-in hybrid, too.

Now the XCeed has been treated to something of a makeover that includes tweaks to the styling as well as a brand new ‘GT-line’ trim level, which promises a more ‘adventurous’ and performance-infused ‘vibe’ compared with other models in the range.

The official unveiling is due to happen later this month. But in the meantime, Kia has shared these first-look design sketches.

A Kia spokesperson tells us:

“As the best-selling member of the European-designed, -engineered, -built and -sold Ceed model family, the XCeed has been acclaimed by customers for its commanding driving position, dynamic handling and everyday practicality.
“A comprehensive range of enhancements will make it an even more enticing proposition in the popular C-Crossover segment.”

The XCeed already makes for an extremely sensible lease.

It was voted the ‘best car to own’ in the 2022 Driver Power survey, published by Auto Express magazine.

There’s bags of personality, a generous 426 litre boot - more than you get in the regular Kia Ceed hatchback upon which the XCeed is based - and you can enjoy mild-hybrid tech if you choose the diesel engine.

As it stands, the base XCeed 'Connect' is also brimming with kit as standard. That includes 18 inch alloys, privacy glass, a 10.25 inch infotainment touchscreen with sat nav, a reversing camera, lane keep assist and a ‘Forward collision-avoidance’ system.

Those entry-level Connect models also enjoy a frugal 1.0 litre petrol engine that’ll return around 47 miles to the gallon while also boasting decent power of 118 bhp.

Speaking about the new incarnation, which continues the trend of lease customers being able to enjoy a plug-in hybrid XCeed, Kia adds:

“The arrival of the new XCeed will support Kia’s transition into a sustainable mobility solutions provider by being available with a range of highly efficient electrified powertrains, including mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options.
“The latest advanced safety, connectivity and infotainment technologies will enhance everyday usability and enjoyment behind the wheel.”

We’ll bring you the full reveal in a few weeks.

And remember that you can lease a Kia XCeed for around £203 per month.*
