New Citroen e-Berlingo electric MPV raring to go

Hot on the heels of the Ford Tourneo Connect comes another tempting multi-activity vehicle – the new Citroen e-Berlingo Electric MPV.

New e-Berlingo MPV 1

We’ve already seen the unveiling of the new e-Berlingo commercial van in recent months.

And now Citroen has dropped the drapes on this people-carrying incarnation, which it hopes will really appeal to both busy families on the move and also fleet lease customers.

Driving the e-Berlingo MPV is a 50kWh battery and a 136hp electric motor, which gives you a range between charges of up to 174 miles.

A 7.4kW on-board charger comes as standard, with a full re-charge taking around seven-and-a-half hours. An optional 11kW on-board charger is also available, reducing the charging time to 4 hours 45 minutes when hooked up to a compatible wallbox.

Or, if you find a full-on fast charger, you can replenish 80 per cent of the battery in just 30 minutes.

New e-Berlingo MPV 3

The e-Berlingo MPV is available in ‘M’ and ‘XL’ body lengths, which provide either five or seven seats respectively.

And Citroen is promising ‘uncompromised practicality’, with up to 4,000-litres of boot space and myriad of interior storage options. The luggage room in the ‘M’ versions ranges from 775-litres to 3,500 litres, if you fold all of the passenger seats forward.

Meanwhile the ‘XL’ model increases available boot space to between 1,050 and 4,000-litres. There’s also 167-litres of useable stash space in the cabin, too.

There are two trim levels up for grabs – base ‘Feel’ and the more upmarket ‘Flair XTR’. The only slight downside is that for XL customers there’s just one trim level available, and that’s Feel.

Both models feature two sliding side doors and Citroen’s trademark ‘Airbump’ exterior styling, as well as an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth, DAB radio, plus Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

All models also come with a range of safety and driver assistance systems as part of Citroën’s Safety Pack. This includes Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Safety Brake, Cruise Control and Speed Limiter, Speed Limit Recognition and Recommendation, and Driver Attention Alert.

The Feel trim also handily comes fitted with rear parking sensors, while ‘Flair XTR’ adds a 180° colour reversing camera. The Flair XTR models also gain 17-inch ‘Spin’ alloy wheels, ‘XTR’ badging, black roof bars and door mirrors, orange fog light surrounds and orange flourishes on the Airbump panels.

You even get a head-up display and the fully-connected Citroën Connect Nav.

Of course, the e-Berlingo MPV is all about saving lease customers money at the pumps in the long run. A Citroen spokesperson points out:

“With zero emissions, ë-Berlingo Electric keeps running costs low for fleet operators, drivers have the advantage of a Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax rate of just 1% and all versions are exemption from London Congestion and Ultra-Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) charges.”

Prices for Citroën ë-Berlingo Electric start from £29,575 after the current Plug-in Car Grant is applied.

Chris was great, very helpful and looked through lots of different options with me as I didn’t know which car I wanted. He looked over both new and used deals and he gave lots of advice, would definitely recommend!
