New all-electric Vauxhall Combo-e Life MPV revealed

If you’re an active family with an eco conscience, the new Vauxhall Combo-e Life could be the MPV for you.

Not only does it come as a five or seven seater, it also runs purely on electricity, giving it zero emissions and a healthy range of 174 miles between charges.

And if you’re considering a Combo-e Life lease as a practical company car, you can be smug in the knowledge it’ll attract a Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax rate of just 1% for the year 2021-22.

A rival to the Nissan e-NV200 Combi, or even the traditionally-fuelled Volkswagen Sharan, power comes from a 50kWh lithium-ion battery and a 100kW (136PS) electric motor capable of producing 260Nm of torque.

Supporting up to 100kW rapid charging, an 80% charge takes just 30 minutes while all Combo-e Life variants come as standard with a single-phase 7.4kW on-board charger.

Meanwhile there’s also tons of choice when it comes to configurations.

While it’s only available in one trim level - ‘SE’ - there are two sizes, a Medium and a longer XL variant. Medium models can be specified in either five- or seven-seat configurations, while XL vehicles are offered exclusively with seven seats.

Meanwhile you get an awful lot of kit as standard.

There’s 16 inch alloys, nearside and offside sliding side-access doors, LED daytime running lights with high-beam assist, a panoramic rear-view camera and automatic windscreen wipers as well as body-coloured bumpers and side protection mouldings.

Step inside the cavernous cabin and you’ll find an 8 inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 3.5-inch colour instrument display.

Gadgets include rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, cruise control with speed limited and speed sign recognition

In the Medium car you can expect a very decent 597 litres of boot space - which jumps up to 2,126 litres of space with the rear row folded. Meanwhile XL variants come with 850 litres of space, and up to 2,693 litres with the back seats flat.

And if you’ve got stuff to lug, worry not. The Combo-e Life is also rated to tow up to 750kg and comes with trailer stability technology that reduces vehicle speed when it detects the trailer swerving.

A Vauxhall spokesperson says:

“The Combo-e Life is a spacious and highly practical family lifestyle vehicle and is one of very few fully electric vehicles of its type on the market.”

The Vauxhall Combo-e Life is available to order now, with prices starting from £31,610 and deliveries beginning in October.

The Combo-e Life also joins an ever-expanding electric family over at Vauxhall. The leccy line-up already includes the Mokka-e, Corsa-e and Vivaro-e, with a Combo-e panel van also arriving this year.

The British brand says it’s, ‘aiming to offer an electric variant across its model line up by 2025, with the entire model range available to order via the new Vauxhall Online Store.’
