The ID.5 sits at the pinnacle of VW’s ID range of electric vehicles (EVs), ahead of the ID.3 and the ID.4, and it’s a close competitor to the likes of the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, Kia EV6 and Ford Mustang Mach-E.
About the VW ID.5
First launched in 2022, the Volkswagen ID.5 is essentially a coupe version of the more traditionally-shaped VW ID.4.
It boasts a sleek sloping roofline for a more aerodynamic design and svelte silhouette.
And that more slippery design also results in a slight increase in the electric range between charges compared with the more traditionally-shaped ID.4.
There’s a good breadth of trim levels and batteries to choose from with GTX models bringing the performance.

Pure
The most affordable Pure models are equipped with a 52 kWh battery that provides a range of up to 226 miles between charges. Rapid charging at 145 kW DC can restore the energy in the battery from 10-80% in 28 mins.
Pro
The larger Pro battery is a 77 KWh unit that unlocks a range of up to 344 miles between charges and increased power of 286 PS, enabling the ID.5 to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 6.7 seconds.
GTX
The range-topping, all-wheel drive GTX version of the ID.5 gets a larger 79 kWh battery, power of 340 PS, and the ability to sprint from 0-62 mph in just 5.4 seconds. Here the range is reduced slightly to 327 miles.
Which VW ID.5 trim level should I lease?
Match Pure
The entry-level Match Pure is equipped with the smaller 52 kWh battery and offers 19-inch alloys, LED headlamps with automatic headlight control, ambient lighting, and a heated leather steering wheel.
Match Pro
Mid-range Match Pro models get the larger 77 kWh battery and add extras like a rear view camera, keyless entry and start, and an electric tailgate with virtual pedal.
GTX Edition
