Last year, we took the plucky Toyota bZ4x to Silverstone. It may not have won the race, but it won our hearts.
Robust, stylish and with all-wheel-drive capabilities, the all-electric Toyota bZ4X SUV crossover is ready for anything you can throw at it.
The innovative bZ4X sits between the smaller C-HR and the larger RAV4 in the Toyota line-up.

If you’re wondering what the ‘bZ’ name tag stands for, it means ‘Beyond Zero’ emissions. And what it means for business lease customers is that you can expect to pay just 2% Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax for the year 2022-23 if you opt for a bZ4X as a company car.

The Toyota bZ4X is a robust, well equipped SUV that first hit the leasing market in 2022.
Thanks to an alliance between Toyota and Subaru, the Toyota bZ4X shares much in common with the Subaru Solterra and both cars are underpinned by the same electric platform.

Entry-level Icon models are equipped with the smaller battery. Equipment includes two wireless smartphone chargers in the centre console, 14-inch multimedia display, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, and power tailgate.
Design
The Design grade introduces the more powerful 73.1 kWh battery. This is also a front-wheel drive model, building on the Icon specification with the addition of a Panoramic View Monitor, puddle lights and a windscreen de-icer.
Excel
Range-topping excel models can be specified with front or all-wheel drive. Both versions are equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, heated, ventilated and power adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, and full synthetic leather seat upholstery. A 22kW on-board charger enables faster AC charging.

Entry-level models have a range of up to 275 miles while AWD variants can travel 290 miles on a single charge, but have much more power at 343 PS and can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.1 seconds.
Two battery sizes are available when you lease the Toyota bZ4X. A smaller 58 kWh battery offers a range of up to 275 miles while the larger 73 kWh battery provides a range of up to 352 miles.
Rapid charging is a max of 150 kW DC while most models have an 11 kW AC onboard charger. A rapid charge from 10-80% takes around 30 minutes. Range-topping Excel models are equipped with a faster 22 kW AC onboard charger. An efficiency-boosting heat pump is fitted as standard on all models.
The Toyota bZ4X can be enjoyed with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Front-wheel drive variants offer the most range (up to 352 miles) while AWD models are powerful and quick, capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 5.1 seconds, which is quicker than the entry-level 4x4 Porsche Macan Electric.
The latest towing capacity of the Toyota bZ4X is a max of 1,500 kg. That’s for the all-wheel drive variant with the larger battery. Front-wheel drive variants have a max braked towing capacity of 750 kg.
