About the Toyota Aygo X Hybrid
The Toyota Aygo X (the ‘X’ is pronounced ‘Cross’, by the way) was first launched in the UK in 2022 to replace the original Aygo hatchback.
While the old Aygo was very much a traditional hatch, the Aygo X adopts a higher riding position and an SUV-like stance.
Things improved further in 2026 when the Aygo X was replaced with this, the Aygo X Hybrid.
As the name suggests, the traditional 1.0-litre petrol engine was jettisoned in favour of a self-charging hybrid powertrain which offers generous amounts of power as well as class-leading levels of fuel economy.

No, the Toyota Aygo X Hybrid is not a plug-in hybrid and it never needs to be plugged in. The battery charges itself via the engine and through regenerative braking.
The Toyota Aygo X Hybrid can be leased in four distinct trim levels; Icon, Design, Excel and GR Sport. Icon models come generously equipped, with a 9-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, auto air con, reversing camera, adaptive cruise control and pre-collision assist. The Design grade adds extras like wireless phone charging and upgraded exterior styling. Excel models feature a larger cabin touchscreen, heated front seats, and dual zone air con - and also unlock the option of a sliding fabric roof. The GR Sport trim gets aggressive exterior styling, contrasting paint, suede and leather upholstery, and a perforated leather steering wheel.
