About the MG IM5
The MG IM5 saloon (as well as the IM6 SUV) arrived in 2025 and marked an exciting new chapter for the iconic British manufacturer.
The IM (or ‘Intelligent Mobility’) name represents an existing brand owned by MG’s parent company SAIC Motor.
Here in the UK, the IM5 is sold under the MG banner (with minimal MG badging) with IM essentially becoming an MG sub-brand.
What do the IM models bring to the table? With an emphasis on premium motoring to take on the likes of Tesla and Porsche, the IM vehicles move MG into much more upmarket territories.
Why lease the MG IM5?
The IM5 is MG’s take on cars like the Tesla Model 3 - and even the Porsche Taycan. It’s a saloon with a practical hatchback opening at the rear.
Standard Range models offer 295 PS and a driving range of up to 304 miles while the Long Range variants up the power to 407 PS while increasing the maximum range to 441 miles.
But it’s the Performance version of the MG IM5 that really catches the eye, coming with power of 751 PS and the ability to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 3.2 seconds.
That represents pace to rival many supercars and also out-accelerates a Porsche Taycan GTS saloon.
The IM5 is also extremely well-equipped as standard, coming with 19-inch alloys, a 26.3-inch ultra-wide screen, a second 10.5-inch touchscreen on the centre console, four-wheel steering, hands-free powered tailgate, heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a heat pump.

Entry-level Standard Range models feature 19-inch alloys, a 26.3-inch one-piece ultra-wide infotainment touchscreen, digital driver's display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, sat nav, four-wheel steering, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, flush door handles, synthetic leather ventilated and heated front seats, heated rear seats, wireless charging, 360-degree camera, and 256-colour ambient lighting.
Long Range
The Long Range models add a larger battery and more power while spec levels remain consistent with the Standard Range car.
Performance
The IM5 in Performance trim is the most potent of the lot whilst it also adds larger 20-inch Sport wheels.

Long Range variants (100 kWh battery) up the range to 441 miles. With the Performance IM5 (100 kWh battery) the range figure dips to 357 miles.
The MG IM5 features sophisticated 800-V architecture and 350 kW DC public rapid charging which can restore the energy in the battery from 10-80 % in 17 minutes. Using a regular 7 kW charger at home will see a 10% to 100% charge in 12 hours (for the Standard Range car).
All versions of the MG IM5 are extremely well equipped as standard.
