The Mazda 6e reinvents the discontinued Mazda 6 for the electric age.
It combines the sleek silhouette of a saloon with the practicality of a hatchback boot while flowing lines and bold features - including an electronically extendable rear spoiler - give the Mazda 6e a sporty stance.
At the front, Mazda’s illuminated wing badge appears to flutter when the car is charging while there’s a full width horizontal light bar at the back.
The 6e represents Mazda’s first ever electric vehicle and sits in the firm’s range alongside the smaller and traditionally fuelled Mazda 3.
The Mazda 6e offers competition to other heavyweight electric saloons in the UK lease market, including the Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Ioniq 6 and BYD Seal.
There are two trims to choose from - Takumi and Takumi Plus - with the list of standard equipment including a panoramic glass roof, heated and ventilated front seats, and an efficiency boosting heat pump.
There’s just one powertrain with a Mazda 6e lease, where a 78 kWh battery delivers 258 PS power to the rear wheels and provides a range of up to 348 miles between charges.
Charging speeds peak at 195 kW DC which enables a 10-80% energy replenish in 24 minutes.
The base Takumi trim comes fully loaded as standard. You’ll enjoy a 19-inch alloys, 14.6-inch infotainment system with sat nav, synthetic leather upholstery, heated and ventilated from seats, a head-up display, panoramic glass roof, a lit front badge with charging illumination, an electrically extending rear spoiler, and safety tech such as radar cruise control and lane change assist.
The range-topping Takumi Plus grade adds a tan Nappa leather interior, a two-tone black and tan leather steering wheel, an electric sunshade for the pano roof, and a colour touchscreen in the rear to control certain functions.

Mazda has specifically kept both models under £40,000 in order to make the 6e even more tempting, despite all models being equipped with a wealth of equipment as standard. The Mazda 6e has a range of up to 348 miles between charges, thanks to a 78 kWh battery. That range exceeds the entry-level Tesla Model 3 and also trumps the Hyundai Ioniq 6.

The Mazda 6e prioritises range and comfort over outright performance. However, power of 258 PS and 290 Nm torque results in a sprightly 0-62mph time of 7.9 seconds, which lags between the pacier Tesla Model 3 but falls just short of the Hyundai Ioniq 6.
