About the BYD Atto 2
The BYD Atto 2 arrived on the leasing market in 2025 as a smaller sibling to the the larger BYD Atto 3.
The Atto 2 is a compact, urban SUV that competes with the likes of Kia EV3, Volvo EX30 and the Vauxhall Frontera Electric - and boasts similar dimensions to those rivals (4,310mm length/1,830mm width/1,675mm height).
There's a choice of two distinct powertrains; fully electric or plug-in hybrid (the latter known as the BYD Atto 2 DM-i).
Electric models offer a range of up to 266 miles between charges while the plug-in hybrid variants deliver an EV driving range of up to 55 miles (when you choose the larger of two available batteries).
All versions of the BYD Atto 2 come generously equipped as standard.
Why lease the BYD Atto 2?
BYD says its Atto 2 is a small, wallet-friendly SUV that offers a premium ‘big car’ feel.
The entry-level plug-in hybrid Atto 2 DM-i is equipped with 16-inch alloys, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, and a large 12.8-inch touchscreen with Google tech automatically built in.
The standard electric Atto 2, meanwhile, features essential EV tech like a heat pump, and vehicle-to-load (V2L), which lets you power power external devices such as a coffee machine or lawnmower.
A 155kW on-board DC charger is fitted as standard on the electric Atto 2, which unlocks a charge from 10 to 80% in as little as 25 minutes.

BYD Atto 2 - Frequently Asked Questions
With a BYD Atto 2 lease, the electric models offer a range of up to 266 miles between charges (when you choose the larger of the two batteries). The BYD Atto 2 DM-i, on the other hand, is an efficient plug-in hybrid with an EV driving range of up to 55 miles.
With the Atto 2 electric, its 400-litre boot is larger than some rivals (though not as spacious as the Kia EV3) and expands to 1,340 litres with rear seats folded. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability comes as standard and lets you power external devices using the car’s battery. A heat pump is also standard-fit and helps to improve efficiency. The Atto 2’s cabin boasts practical features like a 12.8-inch rotatable touchscreen, wireless phone charging, and generous, ergonomic seating for all passengers.
The plug-in hybrid BYD Atto 2 DM-i has a larger boot than its EV sibling, at 425 litres, which is greater than that of many larger medium-sized family hatchbacks.
The BYD Atto 2 features a raft of driver safety and assistant tech, including autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert, blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control
Blade Battery with CTB (Cell-to-Body) architecture: The battery pack is integrated structurally into the car body, enhancing rigidity, space, and safety. A heat pump is standard on all versions of the Atto 2, which works to improve thermal efficiency and range - something you’ll especially notice during cold UK winters.
The Atto 2 boasts an eye-catching ‘Dragon Face’ front end and is also notable for its short overhangs, muscular curves, and a compact footprint. BYD says it balances sportiness with practicality - ideal for navigating UK city streets. At the rear, the Atto 2 is easily identifiable thanks to a full-width light bar and ‘Chinese knot’ tail-lights, which are said to evoke the ‘Mobius strip’ infinity symbol connected with good fortune.
A very good service from Charlie Cooper. Thank you.
