Audi Q5 Lease

The Q5 sits between the smaller Q4 e-tron and the larger, seven-seat Q7 in the Audi range.

It can be had in two distinct guises - as a regular SUV but also as a sleek ‘Sportback’ with a swooping, coupe-like rear.

And because the Q5 gives you the option of a frugal plug-in hybrid powertrain, as well as a performance-infused ‘SQ5’ trim, there’s plenty of choice for the discerning lease customer.

The regular Q5 SUV is a rival to the BMW X3 and the Jaguar F-Pace and is ‘built for everyday adventures’, according to Audi.

You can enjoy a range of petrol and diesel engines, with power of up to 265 PS, or you can opt for the Q5 TFSI e variant, which uses plug-in hybrid (PHEV) wizardry to unlock 299 PS and an electric range of up to 37 miles.

The Q5 Sportback is ‘SUV redefined’, according to Audi, and opts for a different design approach. You might consider the Q5 Sportback an alternative to vehicles like the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe and even the Porsche Macan.

The Q5 Sportback has a similarly wide spread of engines available as the regular Q5 SUV and can also be had as a PHEV.

And then there’s the sporty models - the SQ5 and the SQ5 Sportback. Both variants utilise a 3.0 litre diesel mill with power of 341 PS and which propels the Q5 from 0-62mph in just 5.1 seconds.

Why lease an Audi Q5?

The Audi Q5 is big enough to be a practical choice for active families, yet it’s also much more affordable than its bigger, seven-seat Q7 sibling.

The SUV Q5 has a boot that measures 550 litres, which is larger than both the Volvo XC60 and the BMW X4.

It’s also supremely well equipped as standard, with base models boasting tech such as dynamic suspension, reversing camera and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive on demand system.

Audi says the Q5 is ‘built for everyday adventures’ - and it’s tough to disagree with that view.

About the Audi Q5

The Audi Q5 is a medium-sized SUV that competes with the BMW X4, Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, Volvo XC60 and the Porsche Macan for your monthly leasing fee.

It’s available in two main guises - an SUV and a ‘Sportback’, the latter of which has a more sloping, coupe-like profile and sacrifices a modicum of practicality for added style.

There’s a great choice of powertrains up for grabs, including a ‘TFSI e’ plug-in hybrid which combines great fuel economy with a range of up to 37 miles using electricity alone.

And if accelerating towards the horizon is what you crave, check out the SQ5 and SQ5 Sportback - both of which boast thrilling power of 341 PS.

Which Audi Q5 engine is right for me?

There are numerous different powertrains spread across the two body types - SUV and Sportback - and here’s a run-down of your options:

TFSI e

Arguably the sweet spot in the Q5 engine range, this plug-in hybrid powertrain mates a 2.0 litre engine with a 17.9 kWh battery to create power of 299 PS and an electric range of up to 37 miles.

40 TDI

An economical and powerful diesel unit, the 40 TDI powertrain is all-wheel drive and unlocks power of 204 PS and fuel economy of up to 50 mpg.

45 TFSI

A more potent petrol engine, the 45 TFSI has power of 265 PS and is mated to all-wheel drive

SQ5 TDI

A 3.0 litre diesel engine with power of 341 PS is reserved for the range-topping SQ5. It’ll accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.1 seconds.

Which Audi Q5 trim level should I lease?

Besides the hot SQ5 - which is available in two trim levels - there are four main variants of the regular Audi Q5.

Sport

Sport

Every Audi Q5 is all-wheel drive as standard. And the entry-level Sport trim brings 18 inch alloys, heated front seats, 10.1 inch touch screen, reversing camera, and Audi’s danger-detecting ‘Pre sense city’ safety system.

S Line

S Line

S Line Q5 models add 19 inch alloys, Sport suspension, Matrix LED headlights, unique styling on the exterior, and front Sport seats.

Vorsprung

Vorsprung

Sitting at the top of the range, the Audi Q5 Vorsprung variants boast 21 inch alloys, adaptive air suspension, panoramic sunroof, heated seats front and rear, adaptive cruise control, and radar-assisted collision avoidance systems.

What vehicles are similar to the Audi A6 that I should consider?

BMW X4 Estate

The BMW X4 has distinctive coupe styling and is available with either a petrol or diesel engine. The diesel-powered M40d offers exhilarating performance.

Volvo XC60 SUV

The Volvo XC60 marries trademark Scandinavian style with a focus on safety. It can also be had as a mild-hybrid or plug-in hybrid.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Estate

Like the Audi Q5, the Mercedes-Benz GLC can also be leased in sleek ‘Coupe’ form. There are plug-in hybrid engines, too.

Land Rover Range Rover Velar Estate

The head-turning Velar is available in multiple guises and also gives you the option of a plug-in hybrid engine with power of 404 hp.

Porsche Macan SUV

Porsche’s smallest SUV is every inch as stylish as the Audi Q5 and brings more kudos. There are also some seriously powerful variants.

Audi Q5 Review

In its range, Audi has had some time to practice and get this second-generation Q5 right. Inspired by its bigger brother, the Q7 behemoth, it’s reduced to a more manageable size by having the third row of rear seats cut out. This is, therefore, very much a five-seater and those looking to carry more people need to look elsewhere.
