About the Alpine A290 hatchback

Alpine is the performance division for French manufacturer Renault.

And the Alpine A290 is Alpine’s own inimitable take on the multi award-winning Renault 5 E-Tech.

While the Renault 5 makes do with power of 150 PS, the Alpine A290 ups that to a maximum of 220 PS while also boasting more aggressive exterior styling.

The Alpine A290 gets a range of up to 236 miles between charges while being capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph in 6.4 seconds. All models get an efficiency-boosting heat pump.

Besides increases in power and pace over the Renault 5 E-Tech, the A290 also boasts an Alpine sport-tuned chassis with multilink rear suspension and hydraulic bump stops, as well as Brembo brakes.

Sit yourself behind the F1-inspired steering wheel and you’ll also find Alpine Telemetrics data, helping you to increase your lap times when you head to the track.

All models come loaded with equipment as standard, with entry-level examples offering 19-inch alloys, a two-tone roof, heated seats, heated steering wheel, wireless charging, and privacy glass.

Which Alpine A290 powertrain is right for me?

Alpine A290 180

The entry-level ‘180’ powertrain is underpinned by a 52 kWh battery and offers power of 180 PS, 285 Nm of torque, and a range of up to 236 miles between charges. Acceleration from 0-62 mph goes by in 7.4 seconds. Rapid charging at 100 kW DC can replenish the energy from 15-80 per cent in 30 minutes.

Alpine A290 220

The 220 PS powertrain is also underpinned by a 52 kWh battery. Here the 0-62 mph acceleration time shrinks to 6.4 seconds while the torque increases to 300 Nm. Lease customers will enjoy a max 226-mile range.
