Everything you need to know: NEW Electric Peugeot e-Expert van

In a nutshell - PEUGEOT e-Expert van:

  • Fully-electric van that promises to ‘suit a wide variety of business needs’.
  • Prices start from £25,053 (exl VAT) and e-Expert is now available to order.
  • Trims and power options available - with maximum payload of 1,226kg.
  • e-Expert boasts same load space as the diesel variant.
  • Larger battery option boasts range of 211 miles between charges.

You shouldn’t have to compromise with the impressive new PEUGEOT e-Expert - because it’s every bit as capable as its diesel sibling.

The past 12 months has seen a huge number of electric vans hitting the UK marketplace, and the e-Expert will have to do battle with the likes of the Mercedes e-Sprinter, the Nissan eNV200 and the much-anticipated VW e-Crafter.

These types of vehicle will live or die on two key factors - how far you can travel in them before they need to be recharged, and how much cargo they’ll hold.

And here PEUGEOT appears to have nailed it.

The payload is the same as it is in the diesel Expert - up to a maximum of 1,226kg - and with a range of up to 211 miles it’s real-world practical.

Crucially, the premium you pay for going fully-electric compared to opting for a diesel version is surprisingly slight.

The base diesel panel van expert costs around £29,444, on the road. Meanwhile the base level e-Expert panel van costs just £3,000 more, with a quoted on the road price of £32,451, when factoring-in the Government’s Plug In Van Grant.

As David Peel, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, points out: “The new e-Expert is our next-generation full electric van. With a wide range of body styles and trim levels the new e-Expert will suit a wide variety of business needs."
“With a range of up to 211 miles from a single charge, businesses will not face any compromise on capability. As local authorities work towards improving air quality, electric and plug-in vans will continue to become even more cost effective and important. By 2023 we will offer an electrified variant across our entire line-up.”

You’ve got three options to choose from - ‘Compact’, ‘Standard’ and ‘Long wheelbases’, and they come as a crew or panel van.

All feature a 136hp engine and there are two battery options - a 50kWh battery that provides a maximum range of up to 148 miles under WLTP tests, or the larger 75kWh battery extends the range up to 211 miles.

Standard wheelbase versions are available with 50kWh and 75kWh batteries, while Compact models come exclusively with the 50kWh unit and Long exclusively with the 75kWh unit.

A 11kW Wallbox charger will see the 50kWh battery charged in a shade under five hours, while 100kW Rapid charging sees the 50kWh battery topped up to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes.

There are also three different trims - ‘S’, ‘Professional’ and range-topping ‘Asphalt’.

In S trim, customers benefit from DAB radio with Bluetooth, cruise control with variable speed limiter, remote central locking with deadlocking, daytime running lights and a full steel bulkhead.

While Asphalt customers get to enjoy the ‘PEUGEOT Connected’ 3D Navigation with voice recognition, a head-up display, Lane Departure Warning System and Speed Limit Recognition and Recommendation.

Also standard is the ‘Park Assist 180’ camera, with a 180-degree rear parking camera and front and rear sensors.

Payloads range from 1,001kg to 1,226kg, depending on the trim and spec chosen, with 50kWh models featuring the option to increase the maximum payload by an additional 225kg.

Compact wheelbase models come with a 4.6m3 load space, extending to 5.3m3 for Standard versions and 6.1m3 in Long wheelbase models.

Hakan at select was so helpful. He did everything to find me the car I wanted at a good price. He was also really helpful once my car had been ordered, chasing the dealer for a date and making sure everything was running smoothly. Very personable and nothing ever seemed too much trouble.
