New Renault Trafic panel van launches

There’s a new Renault Trafic panel van available to order - and the French manufacturer says the long-running workhorse is now more ‘robust’ than ever before.

As anyone who needs to shift things for a living will tell you, the Renault Trafic has long been a great rival to the Ford Transit Custom and the Vauxhall Vivaro.

And as a medium sized panel van first launched in 2001, it’s not only one of the stalwarts of the class, it also takes some beating.

Now Renault has updated the Trafic to give it a sharper exterior shell, a better interior and a wider range of engines.

Looks wise, you get full LED lighting with C-shape daytime running lights and a redesigned bumper giving it a ‘dynamic and elegant look’. A larger front grille also ‘reinforces its robustness’, says Renault.

There’s a broad choice of body lengths and heights available for customers to choose from, with short and long wheelbase panel vans available with low or high roof heights, while a long wheelbase crew van is also available offering greater passenger accommodation, as well as generous loading area.

The cabin is altogether more snazzy compared with previous incarnations, too. A new dashboard design stretches across the width of the cabin and into the door panels, giving a greater sense of space. A new instrument panel features additional chrome detailing, along with the door panels and gear lever, delivering a heightened sense of quality and refinement.

Spec levels are generous, too, while there are nice little touches to boost comfort and convenience, including door panels with wider armrests. Cabin storage has a total of 84 litres of cabin stowage space, 54 of which are located underneath the passenger bench seat.

Additionally, by folding down the backrest of the middle seat, the New Trafic’s cabin transforms into a mobile office, with enough space for a laptop and an A4-size swivel stand to hold working documents.

There’s a modern 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen display giving you access to sat nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Some trim levels even have wireless phone charging.

And all versions of the Trafic feature DAB radio, Bluetooth and USB phone connectivity.

The Trafic should be as safe as it is comfortable, thanks to a new suite of driver assistance systems available, including adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind spot warning, active emergency braking, traffic sign recognition with overspeed alert, driver attention alert and automatic high and low beam for the full LED lights. Aiding manoeuvres are front, rear and side parking sensors, plus rear parking camera.

Perhaps the most eye-catching part of the Trafic’s revision is the introduction of new engines - all of them diesels. There are four powertrains, ranging from 110 to 170 horsepower and they also have more torque than previous mills for stronger pulling power.

When it comes to that all-important payload, Renault says the Trafic has the ‘longest load length in the segment’. When specified in L2 length, the New Trafic offers a maximum load length of 4.15m thanks to a hatch in the bulkhead that unlocks extra load length beyond the bulkhead.

A Renault spokesperson adds:

“In total, customers have a choice of 44 available versions, and the capability to customise their New Trafic as desired thanks to a diverse range of options, accessories, tailor-made modifications and a wide selection of conversion options.
“In panel van form, the New Trafic is available two lengths and two heights, while the loading area boasts a total capacity of between 5.8 and 8.9 cubic metres, with several options for glazing, partitions, doors and crew van arrangements.”

The New Trafic is available to order in the UK now, with prices starting from £25,200 plus VAT.

I had a great first experience with leasing from Select car leasing and am so happy with my new car David talked me through the whole process and answered any questions I had..he explained everything in basic terms so I knew and understood everything We waited a few days for the credit checks to come back and I asked David if it usually took this long..he assured me it did so I think it was about 5 working days and he rang with the good news The paperwork side of things then took over and once that was all completed,it was just to wait for a date The whole process was done over the portal so you could keep up to date with any developments but if you had any questions, then David was reachable by phone We had a date for the car delivery and the driver turned up after giving me a ring, earlier in the morning to confirm a time..the car arrived and I checked it over as we had to sign to say say everything was OK with the car. All is great and am so happy with my new car I would highly recommend this company for your lease car
