New Suzuki S-Cross Full Hybrid revealed

Suzuki has launched a new Full Hybrid version of its family-friendly S-Cross SUV in a bid to boost fuel efficiency.

The S-Cross is a medium-sized SUV-crossover from Suzuki that sits in the range between the smaller Vitara and the larger Across.

You can lease an S-Cross with Select from just £202 per month.

Up until now it was only available as a 1.4 litre diesel mild-hybrid.

But now a 1.5 litre petrol full-hybrid - aka, a hybrid that’ll charge itself and never needs to be plugged in - has been added to the range.

It means a slight jump in the MPG figure as well as CO2 emissions as low as 118 g/km.

With the mild-hybrid S-Cross, you can expect a return of 53.2 mpg with the two-wheel drive version, or 47.8 mpg with the ‘ALLGRIP’ all-wheel drive model.

The full-hybrid, however, improves on those stats. The two-wheel drive Full Hybrid will return 54.3 while the all-wheel drive iteration returns up to 48.7 mpg.

Suzuki hasn’t revealed details of the power that’s up for grabs with the S-Cross Full Hybrid, but it’s the same ‘K15C’ engine that’s in the Vitara Full Hybrid, and that latter vehicle has power of 111 bhp and 138 Nm of torque.

Perhaps awkwardly for Suzuki, it’s the diesel mild-hybrid S-Cross that has better performance figures, coming with power of 129 hp, 235 Nm of torque, and a quicker, 9.5 second 0-62mph acceleration time.

Whichever S-Cross you go for, you can expect a high level of safety tech on board, including Dual Sensor Brake Support, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning and Prevention, Adaptive Cruise Control and seven airbags including Driver’s Knee Airbag.

The S-Cross Full Hybrid also boasts an automatic gearbox, full smartphone connectivity, a rear parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry and start, and climate control fitted as standard.

Range-topping ‘Ultra’ models also come with ALLGRIP all-wheel drive as standard, alongside a larger 9-inch touchscreen, screen, panoramic sliding sunroof, and a 360 degree view camera.

A Suzuki spokesperson adds:

“The Suzuki S-Cross has earned high acclaim for its stylish design, compact and easy to manage dimensions and good on-road performance. It is was replaced in late 2021 by an all-new model which takes advantage of Suzuki’s long-established expertise in packaging vehicles with an even higher level of safety equipment and latest technology all as standard. The Full Hybrid version with AGS (Auto Gear Shift) is now on sale and Mild Hybrid models continue to be available with manual transmission only.”

Excellent throughout. This is the first car I’ve leased from this company and been very impressed with the level of service, ease and speed of advice and engagement. Love my new car as well!
