One of the leading events on the motoring calendar has arrived and once again the Paris Motor Show has delivered its bumper load of new cars and exciting concepts. There was a wide variety of cars to be seen at the Paris Motor Show and if you missed the event we have rounded up some of the best world debuts and major launches here:

Key Cars

Audi – S5 Sportback, Q5 and RS3 Saloon


Audi is certainly one of the top manufacturers at the Paris Motor Show – and they started with the have launch of a new version of its premier Q5 with front wheel drive for the first time. The new Q5 is up to 90kg lighter than the model it replaces. The Q5 will come up with five engines including 2.0litre and 3.0litre TDI engines. The car also has much improved passenger space thanks to its longer wheelbase structure.

The new A5 Sportback is the newcomer followed the latest A5 Coupe, A4 Saloon and A4Avant to UK market. The car has appealing an 480litres of boot space with two TFSI petrol and three TDI diesel engines where the fastest 3.0litre V6TFSIpetrol engine accelerates 0 to62miles in just 4.7 seconds with a 155 miles per hour top speed. The A5 Sportback is expected to be sell for around £52,500.

Audi RS3 is definitely one of the hottest new saloons on the market featuring improved styling design and powerful engines claiming 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 4.1 seconds at a top speed of 174 miles per hour.

Land Rover Discovery

This is the new and fifth generation model of Land Rover Discovery featuring a new platform, revised engines promising high fuel efficiency and a new, improved comfort level for Land Rover lovers. The car has set to arrive UK roads by 2017 at around price of £43,500. With sophisticated looks, improved engines and seven seat capabilities, it is definitely one of the most powerful family SUV’s. The car is expected to go on sale with two engines – a 3.0 litre V6 TD6 diesel engine and a Si6 supercharged petrol with a 335bhp engine that offers fuel economy of 26mpg and 256g/km CO2.

Nissan’s supermini and our favourite Micra is coming back with new longer, wider and lower improved body structure. The car serves up more gadgets than ever before, including a 360 degree view monitor, high beam auto lights, and pedestrian recognition system. The Micra would be on offer with two choice of engines including 0.9 litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5litre diesel engines. UK sales would start in March and the prices will be announced on a later date!

Concept Cars

On their 100th anniversary, BMW Group have presented their sports activity coupe model to slot between the X1 and the X3.

 

The X2 has a muscular body, large kidney grille, narrow windows and unique LED running lights; the X2 is expected to go on sale during the second quarter of 2018 at an expected price of around £30,000.

Taking the next steps towards the electrified future, Mercedes-Benz have shown us the radical looking all-electric EQ concept car at Paris Motor Show. The car would drive on two-electric motors on four-wheel drive, with an impressive power up to 420bhp and Mercedes are aiming for the vehicle to deliver a range of around 310 miles. The car will keep the weight down by using a combination of high-strength steel, aluminium and carbon fibre. This is something that we definitely waiting for from the Mercedes and would love to see on UK roads!

One astonishing car from Paris Motor Show is definitely the Renault Trezor which surprised everyone by its great look! It is an all-electric, two seater car which comes with autonomous driving capabilities and features a thrilling red windscreen and a red roof. The car lifts up the roof from the bonnet to provide passenger space across to the red leather-lined interior. The red is the predominant colour which used to upholstery, wooden dashboard and windows. The engine generates a maximum power of 260kW and a 380Nm peak torque accelerating 0 to 62 miles per hour in less than four seconds which sounds great for an electric-motor vehicle!

Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi came up with a new SUV Concept Grand Tourer heavily based on its popular plug-in hybrid PHEV car. The company describes the interior as a “horizontal dashboard” with a pair of monitors for the cameras. The car has a floating-roof is finished in dark-burgundy colour matching with its leather interior. The car is also fitted with three electric motors and one traditional 2.4 litre petrol engine driving 75miles on electric range only and boasting a total range of 750miles.

Volkswagen have premiered its new compact electric concept car, with a claimed driving range of between 249 to 373 miles on a single battery charge. The car features a two-tone body with a distinctive front grille and panoramic roof. The company are planning to put this this car on the road by 2020.

Citroen have previewed their plug-in hybrid concept, featuring an exceptional new body style with rear hinged doors. The car pairs an 80kW electric motor driving the rear wheels with a front-mounted petrol engine developing between 150 and200bh – and claims to deliver up to 300bhp at maximum performance. However, the company haven’t announced any clear plans to sell this car in future years.

Hyundai have also introduced the racing RN30 concept car which will be based on its popular i30 hatchback model. The vehicle will feature a racing powerful 2.0litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that generates 375bhp power boost. The car’s has an aggressive looking design, aerodynamic body kit, roll cage and a racing steering wheel.
