Nissan launches Qashqai ‘Kuro Edition’

Here’s a new variant of the all-conquering Nissan Qashqai - the super sharp Kuro Edition.

The Qashqai is, as ever, one of the most popular vehicles in the UK - full stop.

The most up-to-date industry data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have the Qashqai placed second in the list of car registrations for 2023 so far, behind only the Vauxhall Corsa.

So, how do you make a Nissan Qashqai lease even more tempting? You launch a special edition with lots of bells and whistles, that’s how.

The new Kuro Edition is based on the mid-range N-Connecta trim level - there are actually two other grades above it, being Tekna and Tekna+ - and it’s the Qashqai with the hybrid e-POWER engine we’re talking about here.

You get what Nissan calls a ‘striking new look’, complete with 18 inch black alloys, a glass roof, illuminated kicking-plates, and a wireless charging pad.

The Kuro comes in three different two-tone paint combinations - a black roof with either a Storm White or Ceramic Grey body, or a grey roof with a Pearl Black body.

You can also lease the Kuro Edition with the added ‘Tech Assist Pack’ for around £12 extra per month, which adds full LED lights, a head up display, and more safety systems including the Nissan ‘ProPILOT Assist with Navi-Link’, which helps to maintain the vehicle’s position in the lane, keeps a safe distance from the car in front, and also warns you when you’re breaking the speed limit.

The e-POWER hybrid system, meanwhile, is well worth checking out - though you can also lease a more affordable Nissan Qashqai with a 1.3 litre mild-hybrid powertrain.

The self-charging e-POWER - you never need to plug it in - marries a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a battery and electric motor.

Unlike with other hybrids, the petrol engine doesn’t drive the wheels - it just feeds power to the electric battery, leaving the electric motor to propel you forwards.

That gives you the feel over driving a torquey, responsive EV without actually having to get your charging cables out.

Nic Thomas, Nissan GB Marketing Director, says: “Customers are responding incredibly well to Qashqai e-POWER, they are enjoying the smoothness of the electric drive and the convenience of a petrol engine which recharges the battery on the go. Qashqai Kuro Edition with e-POWER is delivering a stylish and eye-catching special version to an already efficient and comfortable drive.”

You can lease a Nissan Qashqai with Select Car Leasing from £236 per month*.
