Jeep Avenger wins big at TopGear.com Electric Awards!

The new Jeep Avenger has been named ‘Electric Car of the Year’ and ‘Best Electric City Car’ in the TopGear.com Electric Awards 2023.

This is a big win for the Avenger, having only unveiled six months ago.

Due to arrive on UK roads in June of this year, it’s a compact SUV that sits somewhere between the Vauxhall Mokka Electric and the Volvo XC40 Recharge Electric in terms of affordability.

And you can lease a First Edition model - which gets a 54 kWh battery and a range of up to 249 miles between charges - with Select from around £454 per month*.

The judges at TopGear.com were certainly impressed with the Avenger, handing it the overall prize while praising its rugged sturdiness, whether you're taking it off-road or battling through urban congestion.

The website petrolheads commented:

“Its blocky outline makes it easy to thread down narrow streets, and all-round black plastic protection will save the day when you get it slightly wrong. Because it’s set up for mild off-roading, the short overhangs and long suspension travel make light work of speed bumps and potholes. Its height means it’ll carry adults in the back. There’s a proper boot.”

Jeep is clearly onto a winner with the Avenger - the battery-powered SUV was also named European Car of the Year 2023 in January.

The Avenger supports 100 kW ‘Mode 4’ charging which can take the battery from 0-80% full in 24 minutes. A full recharge via a home wallbox should take less than six hours.

Meanwhile the Avenger also features a full suite of driver assistance and safety software, including adaptive cruise control and lane centering tech.

Elsewhere at the TopGear.com Electric Awards 2023 where were gongs for the stunning Renault 5 Turbo 3E (above), the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore (below), and - as is becoming a common theme at awards these days - the MG4, the latter of which was named ‘Best Everyday EV’.

Giving yet more praise to the serial award-winning MG4 EV (below), TopGear.com said:

“The MG4, with its sub-£27k starting price, has redefined what we can – and should – demand of our electric cars. Even on a budget. That’s why it wins. It’s of its time. An uncertain time. An expensive time.”

You can get behind the wheel of an MG4 EV with Select Car Leasing from just £288 per month*.
