If you want a Citroen C3 that’s both easy on the eye and gentle on the posterior, this new fashion-inspired ‘Saint James’ edition could be just the lease car for you.
In case you’re not au fait with French fashion, let us fill you in.
Saint James is a legendary brand based in Normandy, northern France, a stone’s throw from the famous Mont Saint-Michel medieval city, and which does a roaring trade in clothes with nautical-inspired blue, white and red stripes.
Citroen decided to strike up a relationship with Saint James back in 2019, realising the two firms shared ‘common values’.
And that partnership has created the new Citroen C3 Saint James that comes with - you’ve guessed it - marine-themed stripes on the bodywork as well as an uprated interior.
The most significant part of the cabin upgrade takes the form of plush new ‘Advanced Comfort’ seats - which means that you’ll be sitting comfortably once the borders reopen and your able to take your car across The Channel.
The special edition itself is based on the C3 ‘Shine’ trim level, which sits a rung down from the range topping ‘Shine Plus’ model.
You get a bi-tone roof in either black or white, a choice of body colours, from ‘Elixir Red’ to ‘Polar White’ and 16 inch alloys.
Lease customers will enjoy Saint James roof graphics in blue, white and red, and the Saint James signature can also be found on both front doors and at the rear of the vehicle.
As well as those swankier seats, the interior also features Saint James logos on the upper parts of the seat backs and red stitching above the band. There’s also white stitching on the lower parts of the seats as well as on the dashboard.
The interior features a decorative blue and red door strap embellishment with a Saint James ‘button’ on the driver’s side, as well as a badge below the gear lever featuring the Saint James logo.
The C3 has been one of the best small cars on UK roads for a few years now - and this Saint James model is also loaded with equipment as standard.
That includes automatic headlights and wipers, dark tinted rear windows, rear parking sensors, LED headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic air conditioning as well as lane departure warning and Speed Sign Recognition and Recommendation.
And there’s also a choice of two engines.
The ‘PureTech 83’ petrol is mated to a manual gearbox while the more powerful 110 PS ‘PureTech 110’ comes bolted to a 6-speed automatic box.
A Citroen spokesperson said:
“With New C3 Saint James, Citroën and Saint James have reaffirmed their union as two brands with significant heritage, both guided by a common vision of French know-how and expertise that is ‘accessible to all’.”
New C3 Saint James is available to order now in the UK, with the first models arriving in showrooms in late July 2021.
