All you need to know about the new Audi Q8 Concept

The Audi Q8 Concept is the latest edition and furthest number on the scale ever attached to an Audi Q range. So let’s find more about the new AUDI Q8 CONCEPT!.

AUDI Q8 CONCEPTAfter all the talk, Audi have finally revealed their luxury lounge Q8 concept at the Detroit motor show. A high class coupe style SUV that will also have a plug-in hybrid machine powered by 330kW system output and featuring four large touchscreens inside the car. The all-new luxurious Q8 concept is going to launch sometime in 2018.

Biggest number joining the Audi Q range

The new Audi Q8 shares similar design and dimensions to the current Audi Q7. Dimensions wise, its 5.02 metres long with a three metres wheelbase to offer plenty of space for passengers and luggage. Design wise, the Q8 concept features a coupe-like slopping roofline with four seats at the back. However, the production version is expected to be a five seat layout.

It will also offer a bigger boot of 630 litre space which is 50 litres more than BMW X6. The Q8 will also have a spacious interior with “four equally comfortable seats”.

Despite the sloping, coupe-like roofline, even the rear-seat passengers enjoy ample head and shoulder room. The Q8 drives on big 23-inch alloy wheels and includes carbon ceramic brakes.

Luxurious interior highlights large touchscreens

The control concept uses large touchscreens in the cockpit and is rounded out by an expanded version of the Audi virtual cockpit and a contact-analogue head-up display. The latter uses intelligent augmented reality technology that merges both the real and the virtual worlds.

The interior also has a 12.3 inch TFT display which offers two different modes to choose from: Auto and Performance. Using Auto mode, it displays generous space for maps, lists and additional information & the Performance model provides both a speedometer and power meter in a three dimensional display. 

Drives with hybrid engine

The Q8, thanks to a hybrid engine, will be one of the most powerful and green SUVs available. It will drive by a 3.0 litre TFSI engine paired with an electric motor which runs from 17.9kWh lithium ion battery offering 330kW system output, it is integrated into the eight-speed tiptronic and enables to drive on electric motor up to 37.3 miles on full charge battery that will take about two and a half hours.

The car accelerates from to 62.1 mph in just 5.4 seconds with a maximum speed of 155.3mph. According to the standard plug-in hybrid engine, it consumes about 2.3 litres of fuel per 62.1 miles and 53 g/km CO2.

It comes with the Quattro all-wheel drive system fitted as standard on all Q8 models offering maximum grip when accelerating hard on slippery road surfaces.

Arriving next year in 2018

The new Audi Q8 Concept is expected to arrive somewhere next year in 2018. Pricing details are not announced yet but it is expected to go for around £50,000 at the entry level models; already higher than the Audi Q7.
